Nutanix but I may be biased.
@Steve Elgan @dready @Dave Brett @RSRevord ⤴️
r
Dont worry about being biased, I need to know if is good. No sales junk. I have heard Nutanix wipes the floor with others, But I have no experience with that statement.
I see @dready is a hard core Nutanix guy
s
IMO Nutanix mops the floor with the other players. If you are in charge of the hardware and not just the CVAD VMs, you will love Nutanix. It's so easy to manage and their support is amazing. Almost no other tech company can tout a 90 NPS Score
r
I am in charge of the hardware. Nice, good to know. Thanks Steve.
Same money on Vmware as well.
r
I agree with Steve, we've tried both, long as I ahve a say we'll stick with nutanix. We have over 1k nodes and growing.
s
Their stuff isn't perfect but that's why you have support. They just do a fantastic job.
j
I’ll let others speak but if you need help some of us from Nutanix are in here. @Kees Baggerman @Gaby Grau
r
Neither is Dell.
s
Lead time from arrive on the dock to racked and ready is only a few hours (node count permitting) for Nutanix. All those other players is weeks or months. Nutanix is built with us (the admins) in mind. Super simple web interface. Easy to patch, upgrade, or deploy their addon features. Even simpler to upgrade the core product including all the addon features. With VMWare it was hours and hours of reading white papers, dependencies, etc... trying to figure out the right order and not create an outage.
r
This is great stuff, This is my selling point to my company! Keep it coming

I actually had hourly team members complaining to me at annual review time because they weren't getting enough OT and thus making less $$. That was after having 1 full year on NX
👍 1
Our time on maintenance was drastically reduced for after hours work.
r
I am reading your blog now. WOW is all I can say. That is what I am looking for
e
Nutanix, but will let customer ching in @Cory Zaner we did a huge back off
c
@Ray Davis we had all in our data center. NUTANIX, simplicity, hypersucks, and dell vxrail. Dell has a pretty strong argument and some slick automation but your dealing with Dell and VMware. Hyperflex just sucks (too complex), sompliviity is just a backup solution.
We went wth Nutanix on HP running AHV. Just a better solution, we compared the whole stack (automation, microseg, files, flow,)
r
Nutanix on HP?
c
Much easier. If you want to have a call I can go over the comparison. Very happy now easy upgrades. I will say the cvm/Prisim/files do have overhead so size it right.
Yes that have dx line
Supports one click upgrades
Only hp and supermicro have an OEM relationship the rest will not update firmware
r
Sounds like Nutanix is the boss.
c
Yes, I beat them up since they don’t support life vgpu migration and some vendors don’t support AHV. Any custom appliances ovf in your environment?
Sorry to steal the tread just did A year in depth comparison and had them all in our data center.
r
na its cool man. This would be only for Citrix VAD workloads
Citrix
So basically ditch PVS, go with MCS and all Hyper Converged ideally. I would have to learn the acropolis with MCS. But I am not worried about that
If you had them all, then thats a solid run through man. wow
c
@Eric helped me with some automation testing.
s
AHV with MCS is cake. We are here to help if you need. Take NX for a test drive using Nutanix CE. That’s what we did back in 2015/2016 as we narrowed our research (like Cory did)
Tell your boss you need to test it. Get a couple grand budget for an E200-8D lab to test it on. Eric has blogs on the gear to buy
r
Let me look up his link. I really appreciate all the advice from you guys.
j
Also there’s #CKLK4RYS2 channel for Nutanix specific help. A lot of us here can help you.
c
Depending on your size they might give you test gear.
k
vGPU live migration is getting close Cory 🙏🏻
d
Good morning guys - Nutanix is a great choice for Citrix workloads but also for all the other stuff in your data center. When it comes to Citrix my advice is to definitely choose AHV as your hypervisor and with this say goodbye to PVS and switch to MCS. The image provisioning times are awesome and you will love the simplicity and performance. Of course all the Citrix best practices for designing Citrix and building/optimizing your images still apply and Nutanix won’t solve your issues with bad Citrix implementations. For your user‘s profiles and home shares add Nutanix Files to the mix - it’s worth the bucks. As of today my mostly awaited missing feature is vGPU live migration but @Kees Baggerman will fix this he promised ;)

And if you want to see how easy it is to create and add a new Nutanix cluster, replicate your golden image and create a new desktop pool, you can also watch this little video:

Whats this Nutanix you speak of?? I have heard it is pretty awesome. 😉
