Cool, I will check it out. We are using FSLogix, but only for O365 stuff. We use UPM for the profiles, would that make a difference?
n
Honestly not sure. I remove all UWP trash early on in ny build. 😄
r
Ha, sure. Completely understand that. Even calculator and whatnot?
n
Calculator is the one I'd like to keep around, but nope, that's gone, too. I use Old Calculator for Windows 10.
n
That's the one.
r
And photos? I think I'd be fine with ripping everything else out at this point. I think that would be preferable to my hair being the thing that's ripped out
n
FWIW, this decision was made well before FSLogix came into play. We were still a Citrix Profile Management shop. I may have kept Calculator around if we had FSL from the start.
We use the old school Windows Photo Viewer. Not sure that anyone actually opens photos, though.

OK, cool. I'll try that script and see how that works. But have a larger conversation around maybe ripping everything out. I can't be dealing with this shiz
r
Blimey, that's a lot of bed-time reading. Much appreciated, cheers @James Rankin. Still working through your logon optimizations too. Ha!

Many other excellent articles in the blogosphere on this subject....also a more detailed series of logon optimizations in the pipe

Yeah, my Google-fu failed me. All my hits were basically all Citrix articles. Harumph.

James goes beyond where most I know go, especially down to the custom default profiles.
And if you're just starting out with optimizations, pick a route and stick with it. It was NOT fun converting my VMware OSOT script to Citrix Optimizer.
j
Test test test though. I thought I had a customer with an odd error on first logon, till I helped someone out with building a custom default profile and they got the exact same error. Be careful!

Yeah, it's a big change, coming from the Desktop Engineering world. That's pretty much set and forget in the image. All this adds a ton of complications to it. I'm lucky I stumbled across this place. It's been a huge help.

I hate start menu crap
r
Same.
