Is the image optimized (via Citrix Optimizer)? That'd probably be my first step. You could go down the route of logging the entire logon process: https://www.citrix.com/blogs/2015/08/05/troubleshooting-slow-logons-via-powershell/
s
Yes, it is
the controlup script doesn't provide info other than pre-shell userinit is what's taking awile
I've disabled all gpo one by one and even all but domain policy just to see if its gpo related
n
The only other thing I can think of is going through the StubPath entries in the registry to see if one of them is causing the slowness. I know that a few of them - possible IE related - did cause slowness. I swear somebody here recently had similar issues, so hopefully they chime in.
s
so thats what I've been doing.. going through my activesetup keys one by one and disabling with a gpo reg item to delete it
j
Do you use OneDrive DriveMapper?
s
no, we don't use onedrive
t
I asked the same question, and we're seeing similar results. Using Citrix Optimizer and WEM. Win10 1903, CVAD 7.15 CU5. And FSLogix for profiles. Login is SLOW.
After your first login, are subsequent logins fast?
s
It's non persistent, so its the same login
t
No profile solution at all?
s
upm
were on 1912... so a little ahead of you
t
Our VDAs are non-persistent, yet we persist user settings. First login for new profile is usually slowest, and second (and subsequent) are much faster.
s
our profile loading is fast
n
Not exactly apples to apples, but in App Layering, if you login to the domain in your Platform layer and let Windows grab whatever it needs from AD, that speeds up the initial login once your image is sealed.
t
The "Preparing Windows" phase is just after boot, before login?
j
There's a bit of "preparing Windows" after logon, I see it occasionally on my CVA systems
t
Uggghhh...Looks like ours may be due to version of MDT we're using.

I keep seeing these two scheduled tasks appear on this vdi \Microsoft\Windows\Workplace Join\Automatic-Device-Join 43.61 %SystemRoot%\System32\dsregcmd.exe \Microsoft\Windows\EnterpriseMgmt\MDMMaintenenceTask 28.51 %windir%\system32\MDMAgent.exe they're not joined to Intune or device enrolled in azure.. why would this task have to run?
j
Did you ever find anything thing on this @Stephen? I've been seeing the same dsregcmd.exe in our desktops lately.
