That sounds like appprotection was installed on the client. It is a checkbox during the installation
The goal of appprotection is stop the ability to share Citrix sessions, but they have had issues with versions that block the whole screen and not just Citrix sessions
AppProtection is a component of Citrix workspace client
h
That's a good thought. We don't enable app protection in our workspace app push, but it is possible someone checked the box doing a manual install. The end user is in ISO, so it wouldn't surprise me. On the other hand, we aren't licensed for it. And when we did a POC of app protection a couple years ago, it didn't work correctly for Server OS VDAs. So I don't think that could be it. I cant rule it out for sure. I will investigate further and report what I find.
h
There was a buggie version that enabled on client without having policies or licenses for it. Talked about it in an earlier thread here
Unfortunately, a search looks like it has been purged already
h
Found it in discord:
I'll check the WA ver etc

Ah, this explains why I can't take screenshots when the client is running! Time to upgrade from 2109.
h
The user I am working with is running 2006 so doesnt appear to be related to the same app protection bug.
h
It doesn't appear to, but I would have the user upgrade anyways due to the CVE found in versions older than 2106. It would guarantee it is not the bug as well
h
Yeah we pushed a newer version and he problem persists. But we didn't uninstall the old first. So Im thinking if App Protection was selected during a manual install, it could still be enabled. Im going to have him remove it completely and then push the latest version to see if that changes anything.
So full remove and reinstall didn't help. But confirmed that if the vendor controls my machine via WebEx they can in fact interact with the Citrix session. I think the helpdesk is still trying to do Citrix client cleanup and or rename the user profile in case something is tattooed within. But I suspect the final solution will be to reimage the client device. Anyway point is its not a problem inherent to WebEx and I suspect very likely related to app protection.

We have found in some outlying cases, a remove doesn't do anything cause at some point a user install was done that can't be cleaned appropriately and only a new profile fixes these weird client issues
