If you are using Storefront and you have local host cache enabled session should still be brokered. But dont do it during the day
a
thanks Rob! is that a Storefront setting or Studio just so i can verify? i THINK we have that set but want to make sure
also, if i understand correctly current/active sessions will stay working but what about if someone tries to connect to a disconnected or new session? i'd imagine that wont work probably right?
r
no you can reconnect
lhc mode should be enabled by default. This shows you how to check https://docs.citrix.com/en-us/citrix-virtual-apps-desktops/manage-deployment/local-host-cache.html
See verify that local host cache is working

awesome thanks Rob! so if this is on for us in our 1912 environment we'd be good if the db server (and db) is down for an hour then ? (of course do it off hours....just looking how much end user planning and communication we'd need to do)

"There is no time limit imposed for operating in outage mode."

There are some settings you should be aware of with what happens when you log out of a VDA. If your are static (which I think you are) it should be ok because those done get shutdown automatically but for pooled desktops which do get shutdown they would not be restarted during the outage. So you would want to configure them to not shutdown when you are in lhc mode. Search for Application and Desktop Support here https://docs.citrix.com/en-us/citrix-virtual-apps-desktops/manage-deployment/local-host-cache.html

I created a basic script to keep on top of that for one my my colleagues, I sure it can be improved quite alot but it got them out of a pinch for a while. As when you create new DG's this settings is still false so its easy to forget and miss anything new. https://github.com/scifidale/Set-DGOutageMode
