Also, the switch for "Citrix Profile Management WMI Plugin" has changed to "Citrix Profile Management WMI Plug-in" (added a - )
n
Pretty sure that CPM one changed in 2203.
j
My 2206 installs worked OK IIRC - but I am old and often mistaken these days
n
Actually, may have been earlier than that.
Just checked - changed in 2112.
I do like how Citrix never calls out these changes in the notes. You have to compare the old and new switches in the doc.

Well the UPM plugin didn't cause a failure on my 2203 installs despite being mis-spelled, whereas now it fails with "invalid command-line switches" if you use any of the errant bits
r
n
They are, but I meant in the "What's new" section. I feel like those changes should be pointed out there, because most probably reuse old command lines.
j
Yes, but rather than me having to hand-check them every release, it would be nice for those of use who have automated systems for installing the VDA to maybe just get a little document saying "hey, we deprecated these switches in 2209". Maybe add it to the release notes?
r
That's feedback I will definitely send to the team. You can also do that by clicking on the Send us feedback knob on the docs page

(So please DO give the feedback that way as well, as it directly goes to the docs team)
n
Will do
"Rody said to stop slacking and add this..." ๐Ÿ˜‰

Hahaha LOL
f
Speaking of command line parameters - anyone using "/controllers "(controller group 1) (controller group2)" find that it doesnt work since 1912? Worked in 7.15, but the installer balks at the parentheses now. Anyone find a fix?
n
I've never used parentheses for it, personally. One of our guys is using that switch for 2203 CU1, but as '/controllers "xdc.site.com" "xdc2.site.com"', etc.
w
Now you know the grief I go through documenting the changes in policy settings between versions because Citrix never documents those changes

I try not to complain, but this one is a pain. Having to compare CLI parameters each release without some type of call out is pain full. I feel for Mr. Webster with the GPO doc he keeps up to date.
p
I'd settle for GUI spiting out a log with the switches used... The VDA command line helper tool is woefully out of date.
r
@Paul Brown I just caught something you may have leaned towards The GUI spits out the switches in a log? Or was that something on your wish list?
w
I believe that was a Wish List item

Lol ok. I was like how did I miss that .
n
So, I reported the page and mentioned exactly what was discussed here - changes to the switches were not mentioned in the 'What's New' page. The response I got from Citrix: "We've updated the Install using the command line page to include the most up-to-date list of CLI switches." It's like they didn't even read the submission. At all.
