Got a site, where we got 2 machine catalogs with different zones in a single delivery group. Basically Primary Zone is newer hardware, Secondary Zone older hardware. We want the user to first use all VMs on new hardware, before using older hardware. This works, except with power-on rules. When i set a percentage or count on the delviery group, it spans these settings over all machine catalog. So for example i got the case that the user wants to access a desktop, 2 machines are unused in primary zone but powered off, because "ready" machines reside in secondary zone. When starting the desktop he has to wait for power on and register VM. Any way to get rid of this (without setting power-on to 100%)?

is this on-prem or cloud?

For published resources put them in multiple Delivery Groups. Then when combining those Delivery Groups on published applications you can set priority of machines. We use that for environments to fill on-prem delivery groups first, and then spill over to DR delivery groups in Azure when on-prem is full. Have those on autoscale and you pay next to nothing until you need them.

Jeff does that work for desktops too?

I believe there was an alternate method for desktops. 1 moment.

I don't mean to thread hijack, but Marco and I have a similar delivery group setup. Mine are all multi-session and split between two datacenters. Under normal circumstances I want all users to connect to desktops in the primary zone but during an outage, connect to desktops in the secondary zone. I have AD groups assigned to the primary zone, and it generally works during an outage, but I figure there's some more elegant way of accomplishing what I want to accomplish without having to assign users to a primary zone.

Zone Assignment is one way, the other option is to do the Keywords:Primary and Keywords:Secondary. That will fill all the one Delivery Group first, then when it is exhausted it will start using the Secondary. But that requires the Delivery Groups to be in separate sites. I really think this needs to be sent to Citrix for an enhancement, as I have wanted something like this for a while.

my workloads are windows 11 pooled VDIs. The decision, which user is pointed to which VM / catalog works perfectly fine by defining ".. use primary first". Its just the power mgmt what does not work like we need it. I´m not sure how could combine two delivery groups delivering one single desktop? This is CVAD on-prem

How about using storefront multisite aggregation and pushing those secondary machines in a different site and in a backup site in Storefront?
