anyone got best practises for installing VLC media player on citrix on a non persistent PVS image ? i presume its disable hardware acceleration/auto updates/turn off FTA and Context menu integration any others ? can you centralize the preferences so all users get them ? a file called vlcrc looks like it got prefrences you copy this into default profile in %appdata%\vlc or use WEM or ivanti to copy it into %appdata%\vlc in user profiles. Any profile exceptions needed ?

it's not used a lot where i'm at currently, but we just install it normally into our image. Start-Process "$Source\VLC\vlc-3.0.21-win64.exe" -Wait -ArgumentList "/L=1033 /S" nothing else is done, except remove the icon from the public folder after it installs.

@c4rm0 I’ll take a look on Monday, but from what I remember there’s nothing special about it: a standard MSI installation, and I push a vlcrc file into the user profile to disable updates and avoid the popup on first launch.

I use things like choco to update and install it in my images.

Thanks for that i got a few other settings i can add. You just copy that file "vlcrc" into default profile and %appdata%\VLC\vlcrc ?

In case it's a published app you can also use parameters "--no-qt-privacy-ask --no-qt-updates-notif" which adds this settings to vlcrc as far as I know. To get rid of some services we don't want we cleared these folders after installation which holds configs for "Services Discovery" and "Playlist Parsers": C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC\lua\playlist C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC\lua\sd So far no problems.
