Hello, I Wrote that we can have free netscaler vpx express licence. If we use netscaler with express licence, is it possible to use it to load balance storefront url and wem ? Is it possible to configure it in HA mode ? Thanks.
• Starting with NetScaler release 14.1 build 29.65, VPX Express includes all the advanced features that are available with the Premium license. and the cap is at 20 Mbps

Yess I read this article. I would be sure it's working in HA ans Storefront LB which is include in premium licence.

Don't quite understand what you mean if you wrote the referring citrix article, what is exactly the question for you? The NetScaler is a fully working setup even in free edition only throughput is capped.
l
I miss understand. So I can use the nescaler fully with the limitation mentionnend on the article, that's a great news because I can then use 2 netscaler in HA with Storefront and WEM LB vSRV. Thanks

I think he meant, he read the article.. not wrote

Just try to restrict the amount of persistent data going through the netscaler. As 20 MB can be used up real quick.

You can configure freemium license appliances in HA.
j
Simple sum-up: you can do everything with Freemium licenses what you can do with the Premium licenses. The limitations are two-fold: • maximum 20 Mbps total throughput • maximum 250 concurrent SSL sessions
j
And that 20 Mbps is rough, if you are running more than 4-5 heavy HDX sessions that can take it all.
j
So yes, you can do clustering, HA, WAF, ICA Proxy, Load-Balance whatever you want.
Oh, totally agree, though I'd be more concerned about the ssl session limit. It's awfully easy to get to that as well with web services as well
l
Thanks :-) I will use it for Load balancing vserver for Storefront, we studio, wem, director only, not for Citrix Gateway. The 20 Mbs limitation is for Citrix Gateway, not LB ?
j
no, like i said, TOTAL accumulated throughput
so for your use case it will be more than enough, depending on how many uses simultaneously use the box
storefront is not your issue
i have no idea how much traffic WEM generates per user
j
Storefront is connect once launch, then you are done. WEM runs in batches, so again not a continuous data stream. If you did Gateway, or let's say, Load balance a cifs share, something that is a continuous stream through the netscaler, that is when the bandwidth might bite you.

So for WEM, it's mainly dependent on how many users access it simultaneously

And if you enable the cache feature, it is just a blip at login.
