SQL Upgrade from 2019 to 2022 Hello all, I cannot find any Citrix documentation related to this subject. Is there any recommendations or any point of attention to upgrade a SQL Server from 2019 to 2022 with CVAD Databases hosted on it ? Or can I just run the upgrade as this ? Do I need to upgrade Database compatibility after ? Thank you for helping.

make sure your CVAD and PVS versions meet the version and CU referenced in this KB article - https://support.citrix.com/s/article/CTX114501-supported-databases-for-virtual-apps-and-desktops-and-citrix-provisioning-pvs?language=en_US

Yes, no problem with that point.

also, Citrix Support will likely say "this is a Microsoft SQL DBA question" and "should follow leading practices from MSFT." Or something like that. There's not really a "Citrix HOWTO" on this.
But that describes a MIGRATION and not an in-place UPGRADE
j
Yes I saw it. I think it could be a good base to start
m
personally, may be better to stand up new SQL 2022 and migrate to that as a test. Upgrade in-place? You need backups of everything and possibly Citrix and Microsoft support on speed dial.

Agree, 100% on migrating to a new SQL server on the backend. Gives you to an opportunity to put a cname with proper SPNs configured in front of it. That way, when you do the unconfigure -> reconfig, you can point all Citrix CVAD and PVS components to the alias now, and avoid ever needing to touch the Citrix config again when migrating SQL in the future
