Anyone doing remote USB scanner redirection? What works for you to speed up how quickly a scanner scans over an Internet or WAN connection? I have configured USB redirection with USB device optimization rule mode=00000001. Is mode 00000001 even the appropriate mode for scanner redirection? With this configuration it scans, but is a bit pokey.

@Matt Sliva Any reason you are trying to scan using USB redirection instead of TWAIN or WIA redirection? The performance is expected to be poor in WAN conditions when using USB.
m
I don't believe the application will support TWAIN or WIA redirection is the reason.

Could you provide some additional context about the use case? CVAD/CWA details; Scanner being used; App details; etc.
m
Sure. CVAD 2402 CU2, CWA 2405 or newer. The scanner is a Canon imageFORMULA CR-190i. The app is FIS IC Sorter.

Interesting, the downloads page shows that this check scanner does have a TWAIN driver. Please could you let me know which of these drivers is being used for this scanner?

Yeah. Let me get back to you.

Please could you DM me the details? I might miss some of these replies.

TWAIN is the way to go. Almost any scanner in the universe is now TWAIN compatible

When testing TWAIN redirection with the Canon Scanning Utility, the application cannot "see" scanner and does not attempt to scan. Likely because it is not using TWAIN to capture the image. I am going set up a check with the application administrator this week to see if the business application does in fact need Canon device drivers, or if TWAIN does in fact work.
Initial testing of twacker_32 with a thick PC says the scanner can definitely do TWAIN. It's now down to confirming the business app can do TWAIN.
So to follow up on this, TWAIN scanner redirection is dramatically faster than generic USB redirection with USB scanner drivers. The problem remains the application vendor does not support TWAIN scanner, so this appears to be dead in the water. I confirmed the limitation with the vendor. Unless there's someway to prioritize the USB redirection channel against all other traffic.
