Hoping someone has seen this before. I am running UPM on a Win 11 vdi desktop with OneDrive containers, non-persistent. Everything is sync'd successfully, but if I want to delete a folder, it fails saying I need permissions. Has anyone else seen this?
even if I create the folder manually, it wont let me delete it
from windows explorer
r
Inside the Ondrive folder or if you mount the container and do it?
Oh, never seen that man. Only seen it when checking inside the container.
j
ah ok. yeah not doing any interaction with the container outside of the session, this is just logged into the session as the user, trying to create/delete a folder in explorer
r
Sounds like a bug. What are the permissions on the folder after you create it?
j
user has full control

wow

when trying to delete, I get this

Full Container Profile? Reasoning for OneDrive container?
j
try uac with admin
then get this

reason for onedrive container? I have assumed this was the best practice as to keep the onedrive data separate from the entire user profile
r
Most of us have migrated to only profile container.
j
for upm and fslogix?
d
nope
Just UPM container
j
ok so just leave it all in upm container?
d
indeed
j
I see
well I can def do that
lemme try it and see if that helps
thank you!
d
I think OneDrive Container, is only used when UPM is File-Based
j
ah ok
d
otherwise, full container
Oh, and keep this in mind: OneDrive data can be roamed for full container users with the profile container, but it does not support concurrent access to the OneDrive data. Full container users must specifically enable OneDrive container for OneDrive data concurrent access.
j
ah interesting. thats super helpful thank you
d
No worries 🙂
j
we are early on in testing with upm so its all new issues from fslogix
how many have moved from fslogix to upm?
d
Hopefully, everyone
j
LOL
d
Every client I speak with, regarding profiles, I recommend UPM. Either file-based or container
j
nice, I have been hesitant on making the switch, but was able to successfully migrate many containers over to upm from fslogix and its going pretty well. if you have any screenshots of default settings you use on the upm container side, I would so appreciate it. only if you are able to share
d
I don't have much, right now. I may have some more, Monday. but I'm not excluding anything from the profile, since UPM full container isn't following MS' exclusion rules. That is, if "Enable local caching for profile containers" isn't enabled. https://docs.citrix.com/en-us/profile-management/current-release/how-to/enable-new-teams-roaming.html#required-settings-for[…]based-profile-solution Tick "Enable VHD disk compaction" and remember to enable https://docs.citrix.com/en-us/profile-management/current-release/configure/vhd-disk-compaction.html#enable-and-configure-v[…]isk-compaction-settings
I haven't tried "Enable UWP app load acceleration", but it sounds promising
