We have seen the Start Menu not responding issue related to Microsoft Dec. patches. Citrix created CTX692398. We opened support tickets with Citrix and Microsoft to try to get a way to be out in front of it. We have not been given any clear direction. I was hoping to be told that if you upgrade to VDA 2402 CU1 then it will address it. Neither Citrix or Microsoft was willing to go there with our support cases. We have been told sometimes VDA upgrades work, sometimes the CTX approach, sometimes implementing the CxtHook registry works. All of these are post deployment approaches. Has anyone found a good process to get in place before deploying Microsoft patches? Would implementing one of the registry changes pave the way to deploying Microsoft patches? We have just started reviewing\testing January’s release so fingers crossed that it may address it.

CtxHook did it for me
v
For persistent, did you make the registry change before patching or after?
j
After

We have had success with responsive action using the registry hacks as well. What’s the down side of making that change to all prior to deploying the patch? What’s the impact to making the registry change and removing the hook?
j
The registry key simply stops Citrix from hooking the process

I am unclear of what Citrix hooking means? And even less prepared to explain to leadership. Is there a good post on educating myself on it?

Thanks for the assistance? Last questions. What is your buy me a pint link?

You don't need to worry about that 😄 community is all about sharing

quick add: It's recommended to add the key in your master image (if you have one) ☺️
