Our customers will probably all switch to Citrix Universal Hybrid Multi Cloud soon. All of our customers are 100% on-premises environments with their own delivery controllers and no cloud connectors. Until now, all customers had a Citrix virtual apps Standard license and worked on a published desktop. Now with the switch from Standard to UHMC: What changes for me, what can and should I do? I would be happy if we could collect a few ideas about what I should definitely do for us (administratively) or for the customer on the UX side with the change of license. I have made my own little list and would be happy to receive additional ideas: • Citrix Workspace Environment Management • Citrix Director historical reporting and trend analysis • Citrix Director Premium (I know things change, but not in detail) • Possibility to replace Delivery Controllers with Cloud Connectors • Director App and desktop probing • Remote PC Access • Configuration logging (Studio) • Hybrid Multi Cloud possibility to bring public clouds into the mix • Multi-session Windows 10 and Windows 11 desktops on Azure (DaaS) • Autoscale (power management, restart schedules, vertical load balancing) • Autoscale Insights (Azure public Cloud only) • PVS (not relevant, as we use MCS) • (App Layering) - never used that one, we fully automate builds with MDT. • uberAgent What benefits am I missing?

Not 100% sure but I think you get the new uberAgent too

Interesting, yes, I read that, but forgot it in the list. Thank you! I did a PoC of uberAgent many many years ago. Back then I remember I had to install a separate App/DB server. I guess that hasn't changed?
s
No, you still need an app to show the data, like Splunk or ElasticSearch
m
Does there a free backend variant exist, or does each variant bring its own costs?
j
You can use free backend like Elasticsearch in free and open basic license. I know UberAgent won't have the dashboard built-in as it is with Splunk. I am planning to try it with Elasticsearch as I did also a PoC years ago.
m
Sorry, I don't understand: When I use (free) Elasticsearch, and there are no pre-made Dashboards, how do I see and interpret the data collected by the agent?
j
You have XenServer Premium 10,000 CPU socket coming for free and 999 NetScaler VPX instances and max 1000Gbps. Citrix EndPoint Management and Secure Private Access are listed but I think you need pay extra to use it
My understanding is there are dashboards but not as many as with Splunk.
s
You must built the dashboard on your own

There are some kibana ones that work, but need a little modification to line up with the new values. I am working on that now, and seeing if I can create a custom dashboard that provides some of the splunk style views with elasticsearch.

There also is the NetScaler entitlement, End Point Management, and integration with Win365. https://www.citrix.com/buy/licensing/product.html

Session recording! One of my favorite things
This one was from a while back, I think you have it mostly covered https://jkindon.com/finding-the-value-in-your-citrix-investment/
