Customer using USB attached printers in RDS Server 2022 via CVAD 2203. The USB printer appears to all other users on the same RDS server. Printer is install via Citrix Session, directly into Windows. No Citrix auto-client created printers, but just installed into users' session and it remains/saved in FSLogix for future use. Is there a way to prevent this UBS printer from appearing to users via Notepad, Adobe, Word, etc.? Only these USB printers have this behavior; networked based printers in users' session do not appear in other applications on the same RDS server.

If they are being added as a Windows printer, they are device printers, so everyone sees them. Does the software require it to send directly to USB? Or can you set it up on the device, and then connect to it with the Citrix UPD? Those are user printers and should only show to them.

These printers are only USB; they don't have network port. Customers plug them into thin client and we USB redirect them into the session. Looking at setting permissions so only admins and named user can print to it to see if that hides it from others.

Correct, have the thin client setup the printer locally, and have citrix universal print driver map it as a locally connected instead of usb redirecting.

Nice. We were able to achieve USB HDX printer redirection on Dell ThinOS and the printer was not visible to other users, which is what we expect. Haven't had success with IGEL yet. We did try modifying the printer permissions so only the proper user can see it and it worked until they logged into another VDA and the printer permissions did not follow (I think that is written to HKLM). Thanks Jeff

If the client has the driver for the printer installed, then stop redirecting the USB into the session and use client-side printing instead. This will be session-based and only visible to the user
