Sanity check, please. Windows Server 2019/2022 with a VDA 2203.3000 or later. In the last months, several Softphone projects from our customers failed "because of Citrix". As I'm alone, I fear that there might be something I miss or don't know. 4 different Softphone apps and every time the users report the same problem: The audio quality is barely okay, but not acceptable. So the Softphone clients get moved of Citrix, back onto the Windows PC, which grants better audio, but a worse user experience, as they have to swap between local and remote. The apps were generic Softphone apps without any Citrix optimization afaik, so we talk about the default standard Citrix HDX Audio redirection. I only ever set three policies in that regard: Audio output allowed, Audio microphone allowed, Audio quality medium or adaptive. The affected apps were: ESTOS ProCall, XPhone, Gamma Crown Central and partly NetPhone which is Swyx. Is there something I should know, to create a better generic audio input/output experience in recent Citrix versions?

what version of the CWAs are they using? We had a issue where the soundlevel on the client and the sound on the vdas didn't match up, so when a user logged on the soundlevel was at like 10 percent on the server even though the user had the volume at 100 percent on the endpoint. We solved that by using nircmd to set the sound to 100 percent in the user session. This was on server 2022
maybe try to disable audio over udp if you haven't tried that already

Do these use a browser based engine? You could add those to the Process White list and that can tunnel that traffic.
• Key Path:
Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Citrix\WebSocketService
• Key Name:
ProcessWhitelist
• Key Type:
REG_MULTI_SZ
• Key Value: ◦
Chrome.exe
◦
msedge.exe

It could be that Gamma is a WebApp, but the rest are Win32 apps afaik.

We were using Swyx on Citrix only in CTI mode and had the client installed on the endpoint. Of course this only works on fat clients... https://help.swyx.com/cpe/11.15/Client/Swyx/de-DE/index.html#page/help%2Fchap_phonecontrol.21.3.html%23

@Philipp Mair Thank you, yes that's why I wrote Swyx is partly affected, we do the same!

Of course, that doesn't work for Dell Wyse ThinOS ThinClients.
