Have a strange scenario that I want to run by all you smart people. In our current environment (1912 LTSR, all on-prem), we're publishing a couple of server shares to a couple of exes. The Citrix team doesn't control the servers where these EXE's reside, we just provide access to the application. Access is "okay" as the Citrix servers and these servers are in the same data center. The company is pushing to deliver everything directly to desktop and stop using published applications. As a result, the performance and latency of this application have naturally gotten worse as the user has to traverse a greater distance and don't get any ICA/HDX goodness. I was wondering if Remote PC would work in this scenario, but it doesn't appear that Remote PC could work for multiple users on a single machine. Does anyone have any experience with a setup like this? The only other option would be to manage these servers as Citrix servers by installing VDA (not preferred as they want to move away from published apps) or go the RDS route.

I think you pretty much hit the nail on the head... Remote PC is more for 1:1 access to a single session device. Are you moving away from Citrix altogether? If not, rather than do RDS, why not do the VDA and do a published desktop instead of a published app?

The business wants to reduce the costs of Citrix and Horizon by getting rid of most published app users and replace an existing Horizon VDI deployment with Citrix VDI. But thanks for confirming that it's either VDA or RDS. The business will not make any changes to this application until the financial core is changed.
