Hi all, I'm currently in a discussion about the session idle timer and disconnected session timer. The question is whether it's a good idea to increase or decrease the interval for both timers. If there is no special use case, we have default intervals of 30 minutes for the session idle timer and 6 hours for the disconnected session timer. What are your opinions about it, are you using larger or smaller intervals?

Disconnections should be higher if you have internet users that may deal with drops. I try and think about how long it would take an ISP to get service back up and running. So I usually aim between 60-120 minutes. For idle I will usually have that lower, like a 30 minutes or less, depending on if they are physical machines or personal machines.

It depends on if you use screensavers as well, and if you want the screensaver to be displayed. If so, the idle timer should be higher, otherwise it’ll disconnect and you won’t see the screensaver.
