Hello, we have installed HP laserjet 2800 series ps which works as postscript driver on the VDA. When our macbook users install postscript drivers on their macbooks, their local printers are mapped into the application. But if we install PCL drivers on user's macbook, their local printers are not mapped into the citrix application. I've gone through the citrix policies but there is no policy which says map postscript drivers. Now, we need a similar policy to map using PCL drivers. We'd like to know if there is a citrix policy that maps postscript drivers. And also a policy to map PCL drivers. All of this started because apple deprecated postscript drivers in their sonoma OS. Can someone please help on the two policies?

MAC can't use PCL. Their print engine use PDF, so if you have that as an option for the driver order it will work. What version of VDA are you running?

7.15 cu4

7.15 doesn't support PDF for the universal printing. You need to upgrade to a newer VDA.
Universal driver preference 7.15 This setting specifies the order in which universal printer drivers are used, beginning with the first entry in the list. By default, the preference order is: • EMF • XPS • PCL5c • PCL4 • PS You can add, edit, or remove drivers, and change the order of drivers in the list.

This is the policy we discussed about yesterday. We thought to add PCL, PCL6 to the list at the top and apply the policy to the delivery group. So, this doesn't work? If it doesn't, should we add PDF to the list and set it at the top? Does macbook (sonoma) map printer if we do so ?

You need to update your VDA to a version that supports PDF for universal print drivers. Then the universal engine will work with Sonoma. Let me look to see if I can find out which version first added that.
Looks like 2112 or later vda and workspace app is required. https://docs.citrix.com/en-us/citrix-workspace-app-for-mac/devices/printing.html

we are already working on setting up a new site on 2203. As it takes time, we are trying to make it work on 7.15

Best bet would be to install a pdf printer in the session, then show the mac users how to copy those pdfs locally and open them and print locally in that method. A real pain, I'm sure, but would get them through until 2203 is out.

We have to enable client drive redirection to copy files from the app/Citrix server to users macbook. For security reasons drive redirection is disabled.
