I have a FAS GPO for our resources in Azure and one for each DC for on-prem resources, if I am not mistaking, I think now you don’t need as many FAS servers as in the past but I just feel little safer with it setup like that.
n
is it okay with having different FAS servers on the SF than what is on the VDAs
i thought they were supposed to match across the board
d
Yes you need same FAS servers in the same order, across SF and VDA
They could be applied using different GPOs as James said - typically we will have different GPO objects applying to infrastructure servers than what gets applied to VDAs but as long as all GPOs have the same servers in the same order
n
Oh, i get it..so i can create a group policy and put all of my FAS server in it. then create two seperate policies for my on-prem vda pointing to the on-prem FAS and only applied to on-prem VDAs. A second policy applied to my azure vdas pointing to azure FAS servers, right? I thought they had to match across the board, meaning the FAS server applied to SF need to match the ones that are applied to the VDAs...
j
How we have it designed but we are Cloud only so I don’t deal with SF anymore so might be best to take Daniels advice on making sure all the FAS servers are in the same GPO.
d
@newbie1998 Yes they do have to match across the board - whatever is applying to SF, must also apply to the VDAs. But you can use separate policies to apply these if you wish to, if that's needed in your environment, but the FAS servers in each policy and the order must still be the same regardless of where or which GPO it's configured in
n
ok, i guess i can't do it what i am trying to do. I need a group of users to access azure vdas from their on-prem SF server which uses a different FAS server that i have configured in citrix cloud..its too bad i can't test this to be sure...ugh..
