well actually i just tried running directly on the appliance and it ran and got this for my output so looks like we may have some config that might be an issue if i'm reading right
d
Those are the default classic policy configurations and shouldn't be in use and safe to delete during the upgrade. I had the same thing when I did mine last week.
a
oh cool! so if that was the only output of that script is it safe to assume we're ok to do a direct upgrade as is ya think? (i'd test w/ snapshots of course)

Yeah i would just go ahead. One thing to remember though (As i've seen multiple customers run into the issue) is if you're using Gateway and your session policy has an expression with REFERER exists, delete that one, because it's not there in 13.1

great thanks guys! i'll give it a whirl tonight!
so the upgrade in the gui fails during the upload phase so i was trying via cli per a kb article and i get this . did you run into it by chance?
d
I remember having to use the -Y option. ./installns -Y
a
Thanks! So you didn't have to use any of the scripts to convert the unsupported files first? Just forced the upgrade and that was it?
d
There are new versions of the defaults with Advanced Expressions. The Classic Expression ones will be deleted only. (Screenshots from 13.0 vs. 14.1 (but 13.1 will show the same). )
a
cool thanks! so the force option maybe just removes those files since they arent needed anymore looks like? any reason you went to 14.1 instead of 13.1? i havent looked too much of the differences yet
d
I'm just trying to minimize the number of upgrades I have to go through in the future to stay current. There's nothing specific in 14.1 that I needed vs 13.1 though. I did find that I had to upgrade to 13.1 first though as it was going to throw out my entire configuration basically according to the command feedback anyway. I didn't have any issue going from 13.1 to 14.1 though. I'm just testing right now and will do prod sometime after the new year.
a
awesome sounds good thanks!
alright so far so good after the forced upgrade. i see something about interface 1/1 is disabled (0/1 is up). can't remember what it was before the upgrade now but so far so good
