Do you happen to have the storefront VIP behind a CSW? I encountered this problem once. The CSW was setup with multiple expressions like this: HTTP.REQ.HOSTNAME.EQ("sf1.company.com") --> SF VIP 1 HTTP.REQ.HOSTNAME.EQ("sf2.company.com") --> SF VIP 2 And so on. Default load balancing server was not specified. Developer Tools in the browser would show that the GetDetectionStatus POST-request would be sent over and over. The solution was to enable default load balancing server on the CSW (pointed to SF VIP). The conclusion was that the receiver://gateway.company.com request was dropped at the CSW level due to the policy expressions.

no it is a simple Load Balancer, and also on the Storefront there is no Host Header filtering or anything. Strange thing is the configuration on netscaler is about 4 months old and until friday the receiver detection worked fine. From the developer tools and also from the process monitor the request is never sent. WebHelper.exe shows some activity (registry keys ...) but not Network Send and Receiver. I also can't find the request on the netscaler in the trace.

yes the browser keeps doing these request like it seems forever if you don't skip it with "Already installed"
