There could be a Citrix Policy controlling it.
h
Thanks @Ryan Gallier. Policy is in place but is set as 3 hours
r
Then perhaps you have a GPO controlling it. You can have a policy in either place. Active Directory GPO, or Citrix policy
h
yea Ryan.. checked with all possibilties
r
If you don't see the policies, perhaps they were tattooed from one of the above. Check directly in the registry of one of the system's affected with both keys of both settings.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows NT\Terminal Services for GPO
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Citrix for Citrix Policies
h
@Ryan Gallier Thank you Ryan for sharing the registry setting..
From GPO and Citrix, policies are getting applied but still getting disconected in 15 min
b
Disconnect/Idle Citrix policies apply only to Single Session OS. What is your goal? If you configure the policy like I have, idle sessions are getting disconnected after 3h and disconnected sessions are getting logged off after 3h.
r
Unless I don't understand, They apply to multi session in later builds now. I have not tested it, but I remember reading it in the release notes. https://docs.citrix.com/en-us/citrix-virtual-apps-desktops/policies/reference/ica-policy-settings/session-limits-policy-settings.html

This was my understanding as well, Ray

Thank you Balliant @Ray Davis @Ryan Gallier for your inputs Actually i had already tried in both ways (Citrix Policies MS and AD GPO) but no luck.. Found this blog too - https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/windows-server-for-it-pro/idle-time-out-gpo-for-remote-desktop-services-sessions-not/m-p/3413579
b
I haven't seen them in any LTSR and if I recall correctly the settings mentioned above apply only to Win10/11 Multi Session OS. I'll have another look tomorrow.

@HD could you share your complete Session Limit AD policy and double check if the keys are present under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows NT\Terminal Services?

If you check the policies and nothing stands out, Next would be to check local GPMC and like @Balint Oberrauch said the registry locations. I would suspect something is tattooed in the registry If you can't find anything, I would do a remote procmon and capture it while it does the Disconnect. The remote procmon will write the files to a different location so it doesn't end when the session get disconnected. This will help you IMHO. Try to look for something like this: MaxDisconnectionTime MaxIdleTime use this as a guide to sniff through it. https://adamtheautomator.com/procmon/ https://support.citrix.com/article/CTX232699/how-to-collect-remote-procmon-traces
