For the browser itself? If so, chrome has a GPO now like sleeping tabs for for edge. I believe it’s call high efficiency mode. I haven’t used it so I can’t tell you the pros and cons.

Used to use "The Great Suspender" in Chrome to help on old Xenapp boxes in the past (before it got blocked by Google for having possible malware introduced after a new company bought it). These days I just use the builtin modes mentioned above in Chrome and Edge as they seem to now work quite nicely.
