If you remove the E1000 and add the VMXNET back with the same MAC you don't even need to re-license. I've done it a bunch of times, only takes a few minutes 🙂

I don't believe so, because if you add the interface(s) back in the same order and same MAC, they should come up as the same as Interface 1/1, 1/2 etc. But I think when I've done a HA pair they've only had one interface so not 100% on that

static mac/nic is key after re-adding, and upgrade the HW level to what your host supports, same goes for ADM agent if that in use. My advise is to always go with a trunk port that you can use real tagging in vSphere/NetScaler just like you would do in a physical box.
