Hi, Do you have a support case for this issue?
Also, what is the vGPU profile?
g
@Rody Kossen Sorry, been busy so I missed the notifications for the thread. No, so far I haven't created a support case, I've been trying different thigs first to try to get more details before contacting support. We're running 8Q vGPU profiles, in this instance on P40 GPUs with Grid 14.4. I tested with VDA 2303, but that seemed to disable HDX 3D Pro and the GPU came up as "Citrix". That is probably because it requires Grid 15.x. This would require us to upgrade the GPU drivers on 80+ xenservers which takes a while and requires 2 - 3 days of downtime. Not very tempting.
One important thing to mention is that we're running 1912 CU3 on the delivery controllers. That might be a issue perhaps, but as we're also migrating to Citrix Cloud soon, I was also hoping to a avoid having to upgrade the delivery controllers.

@Geir Sandstad What do you mean by "it seemed to disable HDX 3D Pro"? With regards to 2303 and the "Citrix GPU", that means it's using Citrix IDD. Did you see that in our Graphics Status Indicator? If you would go to , display settings and click on advanced Display settings you should see the monitor as Citrix/NVIDIA. We switched to Citrix IDD by default in 2212, which is still fully GPU accelerated. Applications should also see the NVIDIA GPU, for example if you open DxDiag you should see NVIDIA gpu. We've made IDD default as that is the only way to be able to display protected content (like protected emails / videos etc), there is an option to revert to the previous behavior but that should not be needed. With regards to your GPU drivers, note that vGPU 14.X is EOL since February so I would recommend to upgrade at some point but it's not the reason why you see Citrix IDD 🙂
g
The Graphics status indicator showed "HDX 3D Pro: Disabled".
r
Which policies did you apply?
g
The same as we use in production with our current VDI. 3D acceleraton enabled, codec set to "Actively changing regions" and visual quality set to "Build to lossless".
But, you are saying that we could go with 2303 and have full 3D acceleration? Because I did some testing before I realized that it said that HDX 3D pro was disabled, and it seemed to work just fine...
r
Do you run a diff language than English?
g
The system language is English, but the regional settings are Norwegian (Bokmål).
r
It feels like a GUI glitch, would you be able to share a CDF trace of a session with 2303?
g
Maybe...with some work. Most of these are non-persistent machines, so it takes a bit to set things up.
Btw... can't find any information that Grid 14.4 is EOL? It was released only back in december.
Nevermind, found it now.
Anyhow... upgrading to a newer driver is PITA... hard to get downtime on this solution...
And since VDA 2303 isn't officially supported for Grid 14.4... I'd prefer to use 2203 CU2 (or CU3 if its released) and try to resolve my initial problem...
This is what I got with VDA 2303, see how it says the HDX 3D Pro is disabled. It might be because the Grid drivers are still 14.4 of course...
r
This is W10?
g
yes, build 21H2.
r
Ok, if you run DxDiag, do you see the NVIDIA GPU?
g
I've got to redeploy that snapshot to check. I'll do that and get back to you.
r
I think this is just a cosmetic glitch. But I need to check why this is happening.
g
Sure, I'd like to know too. 🙂
r
If you would run: nvidia-smi encodersessions (It's in C:\Program Files\NVIDIA Corporation\nvsmi\) You should see that we offload the encoding to the GPU
g
yeah.. I think I checked that earlier as well. I think it was ok, but will check again.
Been at this for a while, so details are getting fuzzy....
You don't happen to know when 2203 CU3 becomes available, would you? 😛
If ever...
r
Sorry, can't share any details 🙂
g
Ok... just got the VDAs upgraded to 2303. Problem is, I only get a black screen at login now. Don't think I got that earlier, but I didn't do to much testing with 2303 earlier.
r
Would it be possible to share a cdf trace?
g
Could try, gotta finish a meeting here first.
Btw, this was without DelayedDesktopSwitchTimeout, don't know if that is related?
Ok, got a trace file here now, collected via Scout. I can share it with you via Sharefile.
r
That would be great
g
Check PM.
