Nerdio is really a "must have" for any AVD deployment, imo

I am deploying it now in my lab.  Wondering if it could be a viable Citrix replacement.  It has lots of nice features on paper

Just to be clear here though, Nerdio is the orchestration engine so that would be the comparison with Citrix MCS. It isn't a broker itself. It pairs up with AVD/RDP in that sense. And yes, for us its the only way to really manage big native AVD environments and not drive yourself insane.

<@ULEEXJUD8> how big is your environment? It starts to get expensive at $7 a user and even if someone negotiated the price down to 5 or 6 its still expensive for something you can do with Github actions/azure automation/azdevops.

I'm a partner and EUC lead for us so we have all sizes of environments.   Yea, Nerdio now has the two levels of pricing (with this premium tier and a cheaper lower tier at $3 or something like that)) and then it starts to get very interesting there when compared against Citrix STD for Azure SKU for example which is the Azure only offering that is cheaper from Citrix and the only apples-to-apples comparison (Since Nerdio+AVD is of course Azure only).  Nerdio and Citrix MCS provide a realistic orchestration engine for any sort of environment at scale otherwise, you better know Azure DevOps well or have a very small environment that doesn't need any of those enterprise features that you would sorely miss going to just AVD without anything.

Hello Gents, do you have or seen Nerdio deployments where requirement is to install/publish  app-v applications (Published app , desktop is not going to be use)? I know there is no Pros whit that, only Cons  ?

Guess you should use MSIX App attach or just "App Attach" which is the newer one currently in public preview.

Hi - i have a support ticket open with Nerdio but i was hoping to get a second opinion from here: I have renamed + added a script to our DevOps Repository and and i keep getting sync issues on Nerdio when trying to replicate changes across - this is the error -

Hey Tony, Yes it did - i relayed the findings back to the local SEs in AU as well as the support engineer who i was talking to. The fix for this was on our side we renamed the .yml file in our DevOps git which cleared all the errors the testing was bringing up....once we did the sync ended up working from our DevOps to the clients NME

Can Nerdio do anything to simplify or aid migration from Citrix to AVD? Any links or information on this available?

Desktop images in Nerdio Manager can be imported from an existing VM, so if you have existing gold images, you could remove the Citrix components, import the VM and use that as the basis for new AVD images.

Yes we assist with this all the time. I would say 50% of our new business comes from migrations from existing EUC platforms.

You could also use the Citrix IPS to migrate the Citrix Image from source hypervisor into Azure as a Managed Disk, then this can be cleaned up for use in AVD.

PVS images are pretty straightforward to migrate as they are already in vhdx format. MCS dependent on the source hypervisor are converted from the source format to vhdx, then uploaded/converted to managed disk. You could also use ASR for MCS Gold Images.

Anyone using Nerdio, if you want to check out the Liquidware FlexAppOne on AVD, let me know, setup is 5 minutes and results are fast and simple. Don't sleep on FlexAppOne guys!

I manage my VDI environment just fine, does that mean it's not for me? Just CURIOUS but don't want to be bothered by sales? Do scripted actions in Nerdio have a detailed log anywhere?

You can request logs from a machine, but that might now give you what you need any. You would be best ensuring that your script logs actions by adding logging to your code
