as MVP is next week, if any members here are there, can someone ask when the certifications for W365/CloudPC will start dropping?  I believe they are using the "modern desktop" nomenclature for this new paradigm. Is anyone out there seeing/using Windows 365 as a virtual compute solution for "bring your own pc"?  The simplicity of W365 looks appealing...

W365 is heavily used across various verticals.

Lego has a huge deployment of it.

A number of pharma spaces do as well.

I've got clients using it mostly for developer workloads...persistent VDI stuff, offshore development teams etc.

The reality is "license and go" is the future that users want. Vendors are going to need to understand that quickly or they will fall behind.

Yes. Please love the simplicity and price predictability of it. Its as easy to manage and update as their desktops and laptops. No messing around with autoscaling, multi-sessions or creating gold image and pipelines.

Yeah, I covered it in my Future of EUC session at VMUG a few weeks ago (doing it in webinar in a few weeks), we need to build for the next generation and with W365, w365 frontline, and a "new frontline" coming, if the cost makes sense and you want persistent its the way to go. I worked the AVD/W365 booth at Ignite last year and I saw it first hand. I think its a little silly when people on Citrix move to AVD which is basically like deciding you want Honeycrisp apples instead of Gala apples.

I just never understand people moving from Citrix/Horizon to AVD (and there's many moving from Citrix to AVD right now), unless they're getting Broadcom'd (hiking up rates) because you're dealing with pretty much the same stuff.

Citrix to native AVD or with something like Nerdio doing the real work at a lower price point?

Yeah, I think I've heard CSG playing games with renewals, which I would hope is the main driver now

Not everyone "needs" Nerdio, but its certainly a nice to have if you can afford it

Citrix to native AVD will be a culture shock to most people used to Citrix. Nerdio makes sense to provide that seamless management layer. AVD on its own is pretty basic.

Nerdio makes it way easier no doubt, but I would imagine some people will try to do it without it because "money"

I'd bet half of them walk it back after a few months and wind up with Nerdio anyways at least

Thats the #1 reason to go to Ignite imo, is that all the Expert Booths are run by  MVPs and MSFT PMs

[thread]: There aren't any plans for a W365 certification. It's currently rolled into MD102 as a FYI. I'm mostly the only American MVP atm :slightly_smiling_face:

Does anyone know what type of CPUs Microsoft uses with Windows 365? Are they always Intel, or do they chop and change between Intel and AMD?

The CPU used  by a Cloud PC-4_16 SKU, is AMD Epyc 7763.

Can look tomorrow always been and I think on mine

They use to sell the older Dv2 and v3 skus as part of w365

Has anyone here successfully had an Intune managed Windows 10 feature update policy to perform in-place upgrade of Windows 365 Windows 10 to Windows 11?

Not tried, but I could test it. I can't see why it would not work - I can try a test.

I’m sure it would, but I have no way to test and there are people that don’t believe it. 

It’s just like managing a physical PC when it comes to Windows updates

With the same considerations with hosting hardware requirements. As far as I can tell, Microsoft has made the hosting support these upgrades since 2022. 

Anyone seeing India users not being able to connect to cloud pcs through the web portal?

Windows app works fine. just spins on connecting when launching inside <http://windows365.microsoft.com|windows365.microsoft.com>

Curious to if this is possible for Frontline and Enterprise W11 w365 provisions.

Currently got intune pushing SCCM client with a reboot. A TS will then run when the VM is logged into and install some core applications.    Ideally... I'd like a way to integrate this step into the provisioning as to not impact the user (i.e no login.. though im not sure this is possible for Frontline due to the powering of the VM)

Maybe someone has experienced the same issue I’m facing. We have some W365 Enterprise hybrid-joined machines. After some time, the session gets locked (we have disabled the "disconnect at lock" setting).When the user tries to log in again, the following error message appears:
"Logon failure: The user has not been granted the requested logon type at this computer."

I’ve checked the User Rights Assignment, and the user has all the permissions needed. Also, if the user manually locks the session and then logs back in, everything works fine. The issue only occurs 20–30 minutes after login. After this time, it doesn't matter whether the client is locked manually or automatically. Reconnect button from the Windows app works fine. Just login back in from the lock screen is a problem

Had a similar error/issue with AVD and it was because of conditional access MFA sign-in method required.
If you've configured a legacy per-user Enabled/Enforced Microsoft Entra multifactor authentication setting and you see the error above, you can resolve the problem by removing the per-user MFA setting.
