Anyone tried getting a virtual machine system identity to authenticate to a storage account❓ Specifically, I’ve assigned the VM identity to the Storage File Data SMB Share Contributor role; however, the machine can’t access the SMB share. I am assuming at this point that this won’t actually work

Hey guys, running into NV4AS capacity issue in my region. "Allocation failed. We do not have sufficient capacity for the requested VM size in this region." What do you all do for your MCS VM's to avoid that? Is there a way to deploy MCS to multiple regions?

hey guys. can you refresh my memory on something please? I currently have an availability set setup for our two storefront servers. i'm spinning up new VMs in the same region and RG to replace these. When I create them, can I add them to the same availability set and then decomm the old or would I need a new availability set?

Anyone here have any experience with Citrix MCS/Azure/Crowdstrike? Having an issue with a new deployment in Azure. If I install CS in the master image, when I update the mcs machine catalog with the latest version from the image gallery the machine boot into a broken state. They aren't pingable, can't RDP into them etc. If I remove Crowdstrike from the image, they will update and boot just fine. I'm installing the CS sensor with the VDI=1 switch. I've also tried the No_Start=1 switch as well to no avail. I have seen some reddit posts in which people were having similar issues with AVD and it seemed to be an issue with one of the CS prevention policies blocking sysprep (specifically the volume shadow copy). We have that specific VSS protection disabled. I'm not sure if MCS does anything similar. Our local CS guys are trying to help us but they don't really understand Citrix or non-persistent VDI. Just wondering if anyone had similar experience and how you got around it.

Hey all, got a question about hybrid join: I´m running MCS with 4 targets, Server 2019. MCS Master is deployed completly automated from scratch everytime. Master is sealed with BIS-F and therefore a dsregcmd /leave is executed before shutdown. I deployed a new master on monday. After shutdown (and executing dsregcmd /leave) all 4 targets had issues with SSON to microsoft. I did not roll out the master! Existing server run fine a few weeks without an SSON issue. Azure Audit logs report tons of Windows sign in failures with error "Device authentication failed." These errors began exactly when the /leave was executed. Can sbdy explain this?

not sure if i have something misconfigured but we rolled out a new server 2019 env. Now after 2 days, Outlook will put a message near the bottom that says 'needs password'. but if you click it, nothing happens. The only recource is to delete the user profile.

Hi folks. I have an issue with accessing Azure Files file share from 24H2 machines: • We have set up Entra DS with a domain name like az.customerdomain.com (The Entra ID domain is like customerdomain.com) • We have also deployed Azure Files, created a file share and enabled identity based access using Entra DS. • We've created a private endpoint for the file storage account and all clients are resolving the right private IP address. • There is an existing IPSec tunnel from on premises to Azure and we're seeing traffic in the on premises firewall as well as in the Azure based Fortigate firewall. When accessing the file share from a physical laptop running Windows 11 24h2 build 2033, which is set up as Entra ID joined only we see two outcomes: Doesn't work: • The user gets the system error 86 - The network password is incorrect. • The user account is showing <netbios domain name>\<Entra ID UPN> under user profiles properties. Work: • Using net use x: \\<storageaccount FQDN>\<sharename> /user:<Entra DS UPN> * maps the file share succesfully • The user account is showing AzureAD\<profilename> under user profiles properties. Accessing the file share from Windows 10 / Windows 11 23h2 machines works without any issues, we have verified this using multiple different Entra ID users, hence I'm sure the issue is not related to DNS resolution and / or network connectivity. To check if it is a workstation or infrastructure issue, I've set up an Azure VM (Windows 11 24h2 (Build 2314) which is attached to the same vNet, but different subnet, as the Storage Account private endpoint is connected to. The VM is Entra ID joined only, no Intune enrollment, hence no machine / user policies applied. From this VM I can access the file share successfully. Are there any issues with Windows 11 24H2 I'm not aware of? Am I missing something somewhere (Bad question, I know)? I appreciate any tips to finding a solution for this issue.

Just an FYI, there appears to be some sort of character limit (about 131,000) as to how much you can paste into an Azure Bastion session

Copying 925 files (48MB) from an on-prem file server to my Azure VM is brutal. We've got Accelerated Networking enabled, and I can't figure out why this is so bad. And that 1:15 is a lie... more like 4 minutes.

Anyone else being impacted by this? VDI desktops were hibernated and are now dead in the water. Service: Virtual Machines Region: East US Impact statement: Starting at 08:58 UTC on 26 March 2025, you have been identified as a customer using Virtual Machines in East US who may receive error notifications when performing service management operations - such as create, update, scaling, start - for resources hosted in this region. Im trying to capture an image of a manually deployed machine in Azure. I just want to use it as a template to ghost a machine to create a couple of other machines. I captured an image of it and am now deploying from it. However, MS is charging me $268 to use the image. Do i need to do this another way to not be charged? For example, should i snapshot the disk and create a new vm from the snapshot?
