Just saw the sales demo of Liquidwares profile solution.  Does it work well going from one flavor of OS to the next?  We are using FSLogix now and I certainly see the value in not storing a profile or dealing with a migration of settings associated with updating VDA version.  But would like to hear about experiences from those that are using the product.

Any ProU folks in the house?  This is not a break/fix, as much as it is a familiarity of the product question; for a Win10 pooled random Citrix (CR 2311) desktop, should the user see the ProU on logoff? Or is it normal that the VDA terminates closes the desktop viewer while ProU procs the logoff out of the user's view?

Hey Johnny!  Hm ok thanks, we're still early in our Ivanti WC -&gt; ProU migration, but in testing the session closes and the user has no idea if the logoff completed or hung on an unrelated task/process.

“%SYSTEMDRIVE%\Program Files\ProfileUnity\<http://Client.NET|Client.NET>\LwL.ProfileUnity.Client.Logoff.exe” is called at logoff so that would process the logoff and process things like Portability to copy user profile data out

Isn’t their a GPO that controls whether it is shown or not?

Yes, in the user GPO section there is a Silent option and it just needs to be enabled. I understand the desire to potentially disable the splash screen it, it typically is not recommended as it is used to provide status that things are happening at a glance

Yeah the users usually don't care about the log off process, I think most brokers disconnect the session before then anyway.

Yeah you're right <@ULLC06AR3>, definitely not a break/fix thing. Just an adjustment/expectation thing as we migrate off Ivanti WC.

We're still not live, only internal testing/migration, and I think this is a case of our roll-out team doing the testing and not seeing something they expect from an admin/support PoV to see vs. what users actually would care about

One benefit for users watching the logoff process is if they have virtual disks that need to be un-mounted, and they want to turn around and log on to a different pool that mounts the same virtual disks.  Of course you will run into issues if those disks are mounted from another session.  I'll admit it is an edge case and we decided to simply educate instead of forcing them to watch logoff.

yeah I don't get why that hasn't been resolved yet, you would think being able to mount a vhdx from multiple machines should be possible

ProfileUnity does allow for multi-session virtual disk mounts, it is a check box. When enabled it creates child VHDXs that mount to the various sessions. Some application such as Outlook do not enjoy that and it is not a limitation of ProfileUnity and you get the same OST out of date message from others

What's the guidance on sealing non-persistent, single user ProU desktops?   Is this still the way, BIS-F + <https://github.com/EUCweb/BIS-F/issues/326>?

Or am I missing assumed knowledge, eg. should our base images be in an OU that does not auto install, remove ProU on start of image maint, reinstall when provisioned desktops are spun up in their production OU?

Seal it up as you normally would. You can elect to install the client onto the master image or choose not to and let the clones install it if you have the client.startup.exe in the GPO

PU question on roaming user settings across PCs. We don't allow chrome signins. So it's not roamed via chrome.  We're doing the chrome core settings 6.8.6, looks like it just grabs the user data/default path in appdata... but doesn't seem to be working with password and auto fill. Is there something special you have to do to move that password file around with profile unity?

Hi, John.h.  Matt from Liquidware here.  You're not doing anything wrong.  A few versions ago, Google linked the passwords and autofill to the GUID of the machine.  The only way to bypass it is to sign in.  If this sounds ridiculous to you, you are correct.  Chrome is trying to force enterprises to sign in to get passwords and autofill to roam.  They claim that it is in the name of security.   ProfileUnity is gathering the files that have your data in them.  However, when you roam to a new machine, if the GUID does not match, Chrome will ignore them and create new files.   I hope this helps.
