I have a template for deploying PVS targets on XenServer, with hard disk and dvd drive turned off in boot options. However, when machines are deployed using Citrix Virtual Desktop streaming wizard all boot options are turned on. Manually deploying a machine from the template doesn’t do that.

We built new PVS vDisk on XenServer for switching workloads from Vmware. Users are getting XenTools pop-up message as in the screenshot when opening published applications, this is not happening for RDP or published desktop sessions. Any suggestions?

hi Guys, new to Nutanix AHV. we will be dealing with some automation like provision persistent VDI from template (building from SCCM task sequence), creating/deleting snapshots, powering VMs on/off, enumerating network connections or iso mounted to VM and some more. which route to go powershell or rest api, communicate to Prism Central or prism element. which of these is more mature/flexible. one of the use cases we currently have with vsphere to rename newly built VMs from random names they get during the build. on newly built VM : get mac address, connect to server with vsphere cli, connect to vsphere from that server, search through VMs by mac address, rename VM with the name it has in Vsphere.

XenMotion takes longer in our environment, 2-3 minutes per VM. Placing a host with 20 odd VMs in MM takes 45 minutes. Whether 2-3 mins per VM is normal ? Support says so. This compounds when you look a pool of 16 hosts and each host with 20 VMs running on them.

In our environment it takes 1-2 mins per VM. This is way faster than it used to be pre-8.4.

Hello newest XenServer Version and i see that the Hypervisor Connection has a problem. In the ddc i see the machines registered but powered off. In XenServer the machine is up and running. Especially in the morning the problem is there.

After rebuilding my main lab box to run Proxmox I started setting up Nested Hypervisors on it to demo and test. I setup Hyper-V on the latest server insider, and could not get it to connect to SCVMM. Seems the latest version of Windows Server 2025 removes Dot Net Framework 2.x and 3.x support. And Virtualized Networking REQUIRES that still. Once I rebuilt to the release version of 2025 it worked fine. Heads up if you run into that issue.

Anyone on Nutanix been hit with this ? msiexec /msiInstaller constantly spamming the application logs on windows VM's with the nutanix guest tools installed which is then filling them up. Anyone got a ETA on the fix as its rather annoying and impacting as cant see legitimate errors in application log

Not looked into yet but does anyone know if i will be able to upgrade to Xenserver 9 as my Xenserver 8.4 hosts are BiOS booting hosts (was built before my time) .... I beleive i am going to have to rebuild them using UEFI and stick them in a new resource pool

Trying to run XenServer 9 nested. All other hypervisors work, but it looks like their detection engine doesn't accept the QEMU machine type. It keeps saying the processor doesn't support x86-64-v3. And if you select that processor type it says it doesn't support hardware assisted virtualization. Anyone been able to get the latest Xenserver 9 working on proxmox nested?

anyone getting licensing alerts on xenserver 8.4 with latest xencenter ? its using LAS and when when checking tools > license manage shows both resource pools are licensed using Xenserver premium edition using cloud based licensing and the xenserver premium edition license also shows under LAS on license manager with plenty of expiration. The error is because it says the license expires in 29 days. I was under the impression that LAS activation is rolling 30 days so max time it can be activated/licenced for is 30 days so it seems you get this error if it misses a day anyone else get this?

Is it possible to modify XenServer hosting connection pool master address? Our pool master has hardware issues and is being rebuilt, we want to update the hosting connection with new master. Hosting connection has exclammation mark and the VDAs powerstate is unknown.

What is the process to import existing PVS vDisk to create a standalone VM on XenServer? We are running into the following issue during import. 1. Import PVS vDisk and create a new VM 2. When we power on the VM, it will have the same host name as PVS M machine. 3. Renaming the VM with network connected, renames the PVS M machine's AD computer object 4. If we disconnect the network and power ON the VM, we can login with local account but can't rename since the computer object is in AD and it need network connection to rename or join a WG. Whether deleting the M machine computer object before importing the vDisk on XenServer would help?

Anyone know why MCS would not retain the Precision Clock device when provisioning VMs in ESX? We're using a snapshot of this particular VM.

Xenserver question for the folks. We notice that the pool coordinator server seems to not like having workload put on it. It said like 25% used while all other members are busy busy. Assuming that's just the way things are we are considering putting a light weight server in the pool that's just dedicated for running PC and then we would throw like the pvs write image work on it as well - hopefully freeing up that current host. Is this a weird thing or a thing we should have already been doing? Every pool we build out this seems to be how the load lands

Anyone ever seen an issue with Xenserver VM's / PVS target devices streaming a server 2022 vdisk dump out a 12GB dmp file in c:\windows\livekernalreports\watchdog-20260928.dmp ? I have analysed the dump in windbg and module name / image name show watchdog.sys. The VM's are running xentools 9.4.1 and hosts are on Xenserver 8.4 on latest patch levels not much info online it seems pretty much all info/AI included says graphic card drivers
