Hey, is there a way to DL the XS8 hotfixes please? I can see the new automatic way via XenCenter but that's a lot of clicks! I had a nice automated process to patch my XenServer 8.2 without ... So I don't want to go back at clicking.

Whenever a guest on Xenserver is restarted, it builds new network adapters. This causes us to lose monitoring history for the network adapters. Is there anything that can be configured for those to be retained during a guest restart?

If you’re an ESXi user, here’s a quick tutorial on how you can use Memory Tiering with NVMe to expand ESXi RAM using an NVMe SSD
    Copy code
Memory Tiering over NVMe is a new Technical Preview feature in vSphere 8.0 Update 3, allowing users to extend memory capacity by leveraging locally installed NVMe devices.

Anyone seeing any issues with the new Win11 24h2 builds and the vmxnet3 driver? currently on ESXI 7u3 (19 hardware version and latest vmtools). Seeing some weird performance issues (browsing to unc paths, doing gpupdate, etc...). Switching back to e1000e seems to resolve them.

planning on upgrading from Citrix Hypervisor 8.2CU1 to Xenserver 8 at weekend (I finally managed to get the Xenserver 8 10K CPU socket license off Citrix as we currently got Citrix DAAS premium licenses and havent renewed and moved to any of the other new Citrix license offerings UHMC/Citrix platform/Citrix for private cloud which now include the Xenserver 8 entitlement (Originally they didnt). The current Xenserver VM tools on the PVS Vdisk is version 9.3.0 will i have any issues with any of the PVS VM's running that version of VM tools on Xenserver 8 hosts ? Do you still need to reverse image the PVS Vdisk to update the Xenserver VM tools or can you do it on a Maintenance mode Vdisk version nowadays similar to the PVS target device software?

We are considering switching our Citrix workloads from VMware to Citrix XenServer. We have concerns regarding vMotion (a feature of VMware) on XenServer, as well as the lack of support for an HPE DL385 v2 Gen10 Plus with an integrated Nvidia A16 GPU. Additionally, there are concerns about Veeam Backup for the master images running on the hosts, as these are not permanently powered on. Does anyone have experience with the setup I described or partial experience? Thanks in advance for the support. 🙃

A Xenserver roadmap question. Nested Virtualization. Any plans on this coming to XenServer? Have some people moving from vmware that no longer can run WSL because it requires nesting.

Hey - I couldn't find any trace of this but I am quite sure I read XS8 support credential guard but I tried and I can't get it working, W22 VM in secure boot, TPM 2.0 detected, etc. As cred guard is using nested virtualization, I think it's just not available, no? Secure boot seemed to be the best we can do leveraging new Windows security features. No?

Anyone using AMD processors for their session VM backend? Or is intel still pretty much the defacto standard out there? I'm using AMD in my lab, but more looking to see if any enterprises have started moving towards AMD procs for the hosts. Checked DaaSLikeAPro-StateofTheUnion, but doesn't look like it's covered there.

We are creating our windows 11 24h2 image. ESXI 7u3 (19 hardware version and latest vmtools), Citrix VDA 2402 CU1. The previous image technical is no longer with us. In the inherited build process the VMtools installation is customized: Setup64.exe /S /v “/qn ADDLOCAL=ALL REMOVE=CBHelper,Hgfs,SVGA,PVSCSI,VSS,FileIntrospection,NetworkIntrospection,ServiceDiscovery” Most of the installs I have seen are just using the defaults. I’m leaning towards using defaults for this build. Is there a reason to not use defaults?

I'm having such a nightmare since the upgrade from XS8.2CU1 to XS8.0! It was beautiully stable with 8.2 😢 I have Dell hardware, 7425, 7525, updated the stack as part of the troubleshooting, we were behind. Those 125 W10 VMs are MCS persistent, thin provisioned running from our Unifi NFS shares, perf is great. The issue is VMs randomly hangs under load. You cannot recover with a tools tack restart, reset power state and co. It sound like a storage issue but it's not ... Only a full pool reboot can fix it. I had the same issue early days with XS8.2. It sounds like a regression ... Anyone aware of such issue? My stack is fully up to date. I'm on the stable channel for XS8.0. Thanks, I really want to cry.

So my Resource pools are licensed with Xenserver premium 10K socket licenses but when i do File > Import > CitrixVdisk.vhdx > Select VM Name / VCPU's/Memory and then Location to place VM on i get this error. I am logged into Xencenter as Root so perms shouldnt be a issue. Both Resource pools were previously licensed with Citrix DAAS premium licenses any ideas ?

Question for those on XenServer. How do you manage xentools/agent updates? I'm baffled by the apparent lack of the ability to manage that from XenCenter.

XenServer 8.4. Stumped on an issue and not finding much online. Have 30+ machines in existing pools, building a new pool that contains 4 hosts. All 4 have XenServer installed but for 'reasons' one of the hosts i cannot connect to from XenCenter. Rebuilt twice. No change. Pointers appreciated on where to look.

XS License question. I spun up a XS host, got a license file from my partner, imported the license file on my CVAD license server and it does not appear on it. Am I doing something wrong? I noticed the hostname of my cvad license server (winsvr22) does NOT match my XS hostname (xenserver-sabcdefg) obviously, could that be the issue?

So, we've been a Hyper-V shop for like 6+ years now. I haven't done vSphere in freaking forever. I need to bring up a 3 server cluster for a specific use case. Has anyone blogged/used a "Best practices deployment guide" for vSphere that they could point me to?

Hey Team, a customer is using a XenServer 8.4 (Patched 29th of March) Pool with a configured Bond (2x 25 GBit = 50 GBit) for MGMT, which is primary used for XenMotion. When doing live-migration of VM's (Storage is NOT changed) there's only used a maximum of 802 MB/s which is way to slow. Any known issues or custom-configs which should be done to speed up the throughput? In theory there should be a max througput around 3-6 GB/s. Datacenter is in the same location, attached to 100 GBit Switches, so theres no technical brake at the infrastructure-side. Thank you!
