My other hunch is that 'fact check' phrase so often used cannot be centralized. It cannot be a group of employees working for one company. Fact check as a phrase is kind of silly as through human history we already have that system, it arose out of science, out of need, its called peer review

Do you think some sort of review committee is the solution? Some industries like healthcare already have some of that with review from the FDA, etc.

no because of human nature and corruption, it cannot be owned. It must be community and verifiable which is why I suggested that somehow blockchain (which is public ledger verifying key to value pairs) is most likely solution.
