Hi all, my name is Anko Top, and I currently work as lead of a platform & data team at Enza Zaden (https://www.enzazaden.com) a seed breeding company. Both from a data and ML perspective seed breeding is a challenging subject due to the large amounts of genetic, phenotypic, and environmental data and the complex relationships that exist between them. Fun fact: the genome of an onion is 5 times larger than that of a human.

Hello. My name is Arun Bordoloi and I have had a long career in Digital Transformation. Most recently, I created and built the first global TV Data Product Management and Advanced Analytics team at Samsung. I've taken some time off, but most recently have restarted the search for my next career opportunity - in helping build the next generation, human-centered intelligent data systems and services. I'm based in SF, but I love to travel in CA, in the US and internationally - ie everywhere. I'm excited to join this community and learn from and exchange ideas with this Intelligent Data community. You can find me at https://www.linkedin.com/in/arunbordoloi/.

Hello! πŸ‘‹ I'm Jason Morrison from San Francisco CA. (Website, LinkedIn) I'm currently consulting for startups who are building applications on top of LLMs. Before this, I spent 9 years as a software engineer -> VPE at Minerva University where we built a new university from scratch with campuses in 7 global cities and a bunch of fun tech, including an in-house live video classroom software. I still love education & edtech! For R2AI, I'm particularly interested in evals: techniques and tools for measuring performance of LLM-based apps to help teams build apps with high task performance, low undesirable behavior, and acceptable cost and latency. I'd love any recommendations folks have on: β€’ Papers for evals (like G-Eval and the others listed in Eugene Yan's LLM Patterns article) β€’ Tools for evals: open-source, hosted, or a mix: WhyLabs (of course πŸ™‚), Ragas, Magik, TruLens, Langfuse, etc β€’ Resources that describe general evals (fast! cheap! isn't sexist!) or task-specific evals ("the conversational agent matches performs tone mirroring" or "the AI teacher employs the science of learning") that you've found helpful (particularly in the education space, but also very interested in what these look like across industries/use-cases) In addition to efficacy-related evals, I'd also love to learn about emerging policy guidelines, e.g. the draft EU AI Act, the NYC AI-in-hiring law, the US administration's voluntary commitments. P.S. If anyone's going to https://www.ai.engineer/summit or https://aiconference.com, I'll be there - happy to connect!

Hi Everyone. My name is Valter Heger. I am a software developer by occupation. I studied math and physics at McGill University. Lately, I became very interested in computational neuroscience, especially motivated by Numenta. Not sure about the time horizon, but I believe Jeff Hawkins that the path to AI is mimic the only model we have of intelligence, is the neocortex. I have been following Machine Learning, mostly watching presentations on Coursera and YouTube. I have a webpage at http://wheger.tripod.com and https://github.com/heger-valter . Some of my favorite reading material is https://www.cis.upenn.edu/~jean/math-deep.pdf https://arxiv.org/abs/2106.10165 The big draw about this is that there is so much overlap between what I studied and the subject matter which has generated a lot of interest in the general community. I have a couple of ideas which I am trying to develop. I want to build a portfolio of public projects that I can use to demonstrate my knowledge and expertise. If someone is interested, we can develop a project which would complement our skills. My goal is to use something in my background towards solving a new problem. i run a meetup on the first Thursday of the month at 7pm (CST) at https://www.meetup.com/memphis-technology-user-groups/events/296092098/

Hi, I'm Alec, and I'm looking forward to this book and these discussions. I live in Canada (Kingston, which is where Queen's University is and somewhat between Montreal and Toronto), and I was in the NLP space quite a bit, my career took me to business analytics for a bit, and I'm getting back into NLP and MLE work. I've only been away from it for a couple of years, but wow, things change in a blink. It'll be a fascinating transition, and I'm looking forward to getting more into Hugging Face.
