@Tim I’m wondering what this means for Ashley’s group. It would be a shame to be taken out of the group considering the factors we have to work with with Amazon’s new rules. https://hey.com/influencer-marketing-outlaws/

@Franicia The Mastermind group buys each other's products and are then reimbursed for that purchase in exchange for a review, correct? I can see how that may be an issue. Ashley probably hasn't consulted with a lawyer. What do you think the solution could be?
f
@Tim Yes. We’re supposed to disclose with FTC regulations which is what we asked our reviewers from long ago (before the rules changed but glad it’s still okay for us) to do. With the new Amazon rule change, I don’t see how we can go about this. I don’t think she’s consulted a lawyer either. I think the painful solution has to be that I have to leave the Mastermind since that is a requirement. What do you think?
t
@Franicia I think that you should bring up this issue to Ashley. She may be unaware of these issues. She didn't seem to be aware of the accounting issue of mixing business and personal funds.
f
@Tim If I were a manager of the group, I may recommend that we have the option of buying any of the products out of our own pocket and supporting each other.
@Tim Should I do this privately or mention it in our private group online? She does mention the words “gray area” sometimes. I don’t know what she means by that completely, but perhaps that she is aware of some things.
@Tim As a former legal officer (or current if need be), what do you see with all of this?
t
@Franicia I honestly think that requiring the members of the group to buy each other's products is crossing the line. Someone could get upset at the group and report them for that sort of activity. Gray area isn't a safe place to be, and the consequences could be pretty steep.
f
@Tim Should I mention it privately or publicly?
t
@Franicia If it's a gray area, Ashley (or someone in the group) should ask an Amazon rep. They'd probably be happy to provide some guidance.
@Franicia Privately.
f
@Tim Would you be able to help me draft a note soon that I could share in Slack?

f
@Tim Thank you for helping me!

@Tim Should I just copy and paste those? Should I add the link or links I shared with you?
t
@Franicia If you'd like. I recommend removing the bullets and making them paragraphs maybe.
f
@Tim Okay.
@Tim I’m having problems logging in to Evernote with my laptop. The passwords or emails don’t work. It says it can’t find them. It can on my phone.
t
@Franicia Are you using "All vaults" on 1P?
f
@Tim How would I know?
t
I think that there's a choice at the top left where you can choose the vault that you're looking at. Use my wf and L?nW9T4BGjVu0@7[guwS
@Franicia Did that work?
f
@Tim Can I say I spoke with you too and you were a legal officer for the Navy? That you advised me it is not _
t
@Franicia My legal officer training really only applies to the UCMJ. I'm not qualified to give legal advice outside of the UCMJ. You could just say that neither of us are comfortable with the buy/review/reimbursement policy.
