03/11/2021, 5:35 PMTim!!!! It’s so good to hear from you. I should’ve replied when I first saw your email last Wednesday night while grocery shopping for the family. Please forgive me for my delay... each day I keep waiting for a perfect moment to type you a thorough response and that perfect moment just never seems to find me. 🤪
Yes, we still have our Sprinter. We have really enjoyed it and it continues to serve our family well. Ours is a 2012, high top,170” wheelbase, 2500 chassis, 3.0L diesel V6 with turbo. We bought it at the end of 2014 for $32k. It had previously been used in Pennsylvania as an airport shuttle bus and had 113,000 miles on it so it did have some rust from the salted winter roads but nothing structurally major. Since then though, I’ve had to replace the transmission oil cooler lines, transmission oil pan, and power steering lines due to salt damage. We’ve also replaced both exhaust headers and an A/C compressor in addition to the usual maintenance of brakes, battery, and tires. Yeah, the Sprinters are also about 60k new which is why we bought used. We heard the 2014-2018 year models had some design issues, but the 2019s had corrected those issues. We have been thinking of possibly upgrading if we can find another suitable used one.
Ours has 12 seats and still enough storage room in back for a full-size pallet (4’x4’). All the room inside is marvelous for us since I do not like pulling trailers. They do make a 15 passenger version also. I think those might be on a 3500 chassis. Being a tall vehicle, it’s easy to feel some buffeting by the wind while driving especially when following closely behind a big semi truck. Julie loves driving the Sprinter and says it drives like a minivan compared to our GMC Savanna conversion van we used to have. I agree with her.
We have loved it and are so thankful God provided such a reliable and safe way to carry my family around.
If I didn’t address something you wanted to know about please don’t hesitate to ask. And again, I apologize for taking so long to respond.
Yours in Jesus,
Tim Woodyard
