<@U02BKFX3R> I think I enjoy working with Trello. It will help me to organize so much since Slack sometimes deletes image files. Also, it’s starting to get busy and complex with a lot of files and design work. This means that it will start getting cluttered and harder to navigate. Organization is now called for with Trello and if necessary Slack. Emails will soon be difficult to find or at least keep track of. :blush:

I’ve been uploading some files to Team Drive under &gt;Wholesome Press, under &gt;Cathy Dillard Byrum’s Platform, for the files she’s been sending me so far. There are folders there for Photos and Website Content (which includes her book covers and digital book).

Guide for Using Slack &amp; Other Questions

To write to or address someone specifically (so they receive notifications too), you need to use the “@” symbol and that person’s Slack name. Mine is <@U02BY23UR>. Tim’s is <@U02BKFX3R>.

To write to everyone in general who is part of this cathydbyrum Slack team, you would just write your question, comment, or statement, etc. without addressing anyone specifically. :blush:

These comments I’m writing here under this “Guide for Using Slack &amp; Other Questions” thread are “nested.” It keeps everything a lot more organized, easy to find (like folders), and tidy. :blush:

You can edit your thread Titles and Comments. Find the three dots that appear on the upper right-hand corner when hovering (desktop) or clicking (mobile) on it.

<@U02BY23UR> Where can I see the titles of the threads? When I click on the three dots, I see:  'your files', 'all files', 'workspace directory', 'help', 'what's new', and 'keyboard shortcuts'.

<@UJWR0GDFB> If you’re using Slack on a mobile device, swipe left or right to move from one area to another.

In order to edit a comment with a mobile device, press and hold down until options show up. One of them will be to edit your comments.

<@UJWR0GDFB> When you press down on your own comment (mobile device), you’ll see a number of options to edit, delete, add a reaction, etc. I’ve included a screenshot here.

<@UJWR0GDFB> If you don’t want to respond to anything written in Slack and find it easier to just use a :+1: thumbs up emoji, you can comment with a thumbs up emoji or better yet use one of Slack’s features and “Add Reaction” with a thumbs up. 

You get to the “Add Reaction” section of any written thing in Slack, the same way you do to edit or delete your own comment or written words.

When I create a thread, I like to use *bold* to make it stand out. To do that, add an asterisk at the beginning of and end of the words/phrase. For example, I’d write, ‘’'*Instagram*‘’' (without the three ticks at the beginning and end) for the Instagram thread. This isn’t necessary, but it seems to help the title of threads to stand out.

Thanks Franicia. Is there a way to put a generic comment on the front page that would apply to all pictures -- something like "All photos on this website are the property of Cathy Dillard Byrum and may be used by permission only"  Derick &amp; Jill have something similar on their website.  Also I like the idea of having the more recent picture of me with the 3 little boys replacing the older banner picture.  But I would want to keep the book info separate as it's a more somber tone, if that makes sense?

Yes, a generic comment like that can definitely be added in the front of the website. It can even be placed in the footer of the website so it will be seen at the bottom of everything on the website, be it blog post or any page like the home or about. :blush::+1:

Great, I like the idea of having it on each page. My main goal at this point is having an updated picture on the opening banner. Then I will add a blog entry, or two...or three! Just so that it will be current since the website address is on the back of the book.

The caption underneath it credits her as photographer and the copyright with you for the website as is consistent under other photos.

Since Cathy wants her book to be more accessible to others and not necessarily because the length is shorter (which is because it would be quicker, easier, and more motivating for busy people to read), she’s thinking that selling her book for $9.95 would be better. <@UJWR0GDFB> I think both prices sound good, but also it depends on your circumstances such as any contracts, etc. The $9.95 option will definitely be more attractive to those who are debating whether they can afford it or not. There is a much smaller profit margin with the $9.95 option. Are you splitting this between a publisher and yourself? 

I’m not sure what your publishing situation is or fully understand book advances. Let’s say, as an example if you received a $10,000 book advance and you and your publisher made $8,000 in profits after sales, then you would have to pay the publisher back $2,000 for the loss.

<@UJWR0GDFB> We purchase so many Kindle books (memoirs, most business books, school books, and more) as well as Audible audio books (mainly more useful for Tim) and have found higher-priced Kindle (ebooks) a smart move. 

Before, it was the norm to charge very little for an ebook or Kindle book, around $0.99 or $4.99. Now, publishers are charging almost the same amount, if not more, for the digital option. 

You may already know and do this, but it is interesting to note that a number of people (like us) sometimes purchase multiple versions of a book. :blush:

So the book is going out at: Soft cover $11.95, Hard cover $28.95 and ebook $3.99

Then you hover over the page until you see Banner, which you click on. From there you have the option of uploading or deleting images. :blush:

I can put your affiliate code link to Amazon whenever you’d like. When people click on the book cover on the sidebar or the text on the sidebar, it leads them to your book page on Amazon.

<@UJWR0GDFB> This morning I added buy buttons on your website’s sidebar. They say, “Buy on Amazon,” “Buy on B&amp;N,” and “Buy on WestBow Press.” :books:

These buttons link directly to your book on each of these company’s platforms. The size of these buy buttons are medium-sized. The buttons like directly to your book’s page on each of these company’s websites. 

The wording of the buttons can be edited to say anything you like. This can be done by either you or me at anytime. :blush:

If you prefer to delete the buttons I’ve added, I can do that too. I thought it would be a helpful feature for your website visitors to easily purchase your book. It also adds an aesthetic appeal to your site. :blush::desktop_computer::computer::iphone:

The website company we use makes things mobile-friendly which means the content adapts easily and beautifully depending upon what phone a website viewer is using rather than making it have a tinier and cluttered desktop viewing experience on a tiny screen such as a mobile device.

I wanted to explain that again in case it gets confusing looking at your website from different things such as a desktop, tablet, or phone. :blush:

<@UJWR0GDFB> Yesterday, when I added your book cover and book title text to the sidebar of your website, I also added direct links to your book on Amazon. So if someone clicks on your book image or the text underneath it, it takes them to your book’s page on Amazon. I can have them link anywhere else if you’d like. I can also make it so that they don’t like to anything as well. Having the text underneath your book helps with web searches and your website’s ranking (SEO -search engine optimization that you’re probably very familiar with already) the more your book’s reference comes from your own website. :blush:

I even added links to your book on Amazon, B&amp;N, and Westbow Press where you mention them in your post! I took a screenshot of your Instagram post’s photo to get the photo I needed for now. This is the blog post I created for you using your latest Instagram post, including the same wording. The difference is I’ve added direct links to your book on Amazon, B&amp;N, and WestBow Press.

I’ve also added a category for it called “Family” which you can change as well as added tags for others to find in online searches as well as your website. Some of these tags for the blog post are: book, memoir, cancer, encouragement, wedding, etc.

If you approve of this blog post, I can publish it for you. If you rather do that, all you have to do is use the phone all for Squarespace called Blog and hit “Save and Publish” after viewing it in editing mode. :blush:
