No, I get that. I’ve had a module or two on and off the forge as well. I get that, but one thing I did do was write a complete article on how to implement the module, what all the variables were and what they meant in Puppet Labs language and then gave examples. Now to be fair, puppet-r10k wasn’t all that great either, and I ended up getting my process from a blog entry. I just find it really strange that someone would use a parameter of source_name to mean “the primary source’s name”. What does that even mean? or source_remote for “The primary source’s remote url” ok, this hints to me this is the control_repo url. Could we not just say that? but this raises a question… if the source_remote is the control repo, then what the heck is a source_name? I don’t name anything in r10k… what is this even referring to, and why is it a required parameter. finally source_basedir. Is this $codedir? or is this some parent? All it says is “The base directory to use for installing components.” It’s a terminology set that no one in the Puppet community that I’ve run across even uses. THIS, campers, is what we need to avoid as we build our OpenVox docs
