I'm having an interesting realization. The way my company operates is we have an MCP server that we host. Customer agents interact with it in order to get information about clusters provisioned under their account. A cluster which gets provisioned has two visible steps. One is the 'provision substrate' step and the 'create cluster' step. The 'provision substrate' step is there originally because AWS EKS is super slow to provision (can be as long as 20 minutes). But as I'm staring at the architecture, I now realize this looks very similar to the colo build out.
Why is this in future tech? idk. But having an agent talk to an MCP server to provision Venice regions sounds neat and futuristic.

Also slow software was fine (?) for humans. It's horrible for agents

The long poll is actually super interesting for how bad it is. I'm shocked it's as bad it is. My local agents constantly miss notifications. I have to kick them awake every now and again. Slack serves as my unofficial message broker. Need to think of something better for clients as the primary interface to Zibra is an MCP we host.

As in tools post update to Slack and then agents monitor messages / threads?

Basically yeah
We've got a number of half formed toys of that nature. We've got another repo called the 'crack team (on crack)'. It's a setup where you've got a supervisor agent, and then agents in different roles (coder, qa, ops review, sec review, user). It's the supervisors job to receive assignments, create user stories, and then dispatch them to each agent in it's role in a kind of state machine fashion. They use slack to go back and forthe and give updates/pass context, and I can watch it. For awhile they just used log files, but that had other problems. So for now we're using slack. This works ok. Little ghetto, but at least I can watch it work. We use this for what I call our 'unopinionated work', which is to say "this is a small to medium sized task that I don't think I can bring a ton of nuance to beyond the design stage". So thinks like API integrations or UI stuff.

That's very interesting. I mainly used github repos for state/message exchange 😅
