Ok if decent wheels and sprung suspension

Good, assuming HQ use the same place, the area out front is cobbled, once inside you're ok https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/882984622978379786/1524688886293598292/AP1GczNRto3OMRcDiGnbdqXf7ygbWQecpo16SNKz0z4-kLnY6NdNWyzSCEmrAQw479-h1052-s-no-gm.png?ex=6a50a8ad&is=6a4f572d&hm=aeb37c0125c659497815d3242e5c87fa672e0e7d52141bd706cfb8ce998ade1e&

Ye, I think it was confirmed it's back at CPH next year and I would be very surprised if they changed venue. It was great this year

Ticked that off my list as looks easy enough to hire and not hugely expensive, next step increase my fitness slowly, so 🤞

The only downside of the venue I think is that the sound from the various stages overlaps a little too much. Not too bad and certainly not a reason to change venue, but the more seperated stages at DOK5000 were better in that regard

I noticed that in the online stream and of course a few of the speakers were clearly distracted and even acknowledged the sound from other talks.

Ye, tough to try and sound proof each stage but maybe something they can look at next year.

I liked the venue, downside a lot of pillars got in the way of the screens

I was wondering about this, whether you can use heavier cloths to dampen the sound

For an Umbraco conference in Utrecht (NL), they used noise cancelling headphones that were tuned to the microphone for each session. In principle that idea worked pretty well. That venue was even smaller and more open. However, the technology didn't work well too often

that's interesting, never heard of noise cancelling headphones being used in a conference, thats not bad if you can't hear well over echos etc, as concept sounds good

Thats what the quiet zone at CG was this year 🙂 4 screens for all teh stages

worked great

Yes exactly, I forgot about those. That's the idea 🙂

ooo i never ventured into that zone

was really good. I liked it and used it a few times. But ye, if each stage was like that I think it would be a bit odd. Everyone with headphones on. But, it could work I guess.

The tech at DF24 in Utrecht bothered me more than it should have. Sometimes the sound would cut off randomly, or no sound at all. But at the talks I attended where it did work correctly, it worked fine. Easy solution to not be distracted by other talks.

We're definitely working on moving stages around to prevent the sound bleed.. it was an experiment and it worked.. mostly, but not good enough. Personally, I am maybe just getting old but I would LOVE to connect with my own bluetooth headset to the actual audio from the stage.. then nobody can disturb me and I can follow the presentation nicely. No idea if that is even technically possible though.

Thing you are looking for is Auracast - and you will (I am sure) be surprised to know that iOS doesn't support it and it's otherwise only a subset of headphones that support it. Android phones can act as a relay for non-supported phones. Alternative is wifi + app + headphones but that adds up to about 3-400 ms of latency which is... unpleasant

Wow, finally something that doesn't do iPhone FIRST - woohoo! Suck it Apple 😆

and yes, I think I just described a hearing aid, maybe I should stop going to Roskilde festival 🔊 👂

Lots of modern hearing-aids support Auracast - not that I'm calling you old at all

I was at Schiphol airport the other day with my big Bose over-ear noise cancelling headphones, minding my own business and listening to some good tunes while waiting in the security queue and suddenly I turned a corner and there were these ultra-direcional speakers that cut straight through my noise cancelling headphone sound and started telling me what to take out of my bag. It was extremely confusing, I thought the music track was corrupted or something 😵‍💫

Probably very much by design - sound and waves are awesome and something I as a techy-musician has dabbled way too much with. I bet they are quickly phase-alternating to break through your noise-cancellation!

Yes it was definitely on purpose. I'd never encountered anything like it before, it was eerie, even when I took headphones off. Felt like it targeted directly my ears only, it felt very invasive.

There are special bicycles bells now that can get through the gaps in noise cancelling headphones deliberately.

Good grief! Googled it and found it! https://www.welovecycling.com/wide/duobell/ - outstanding. Serious problem on mixed use trails near me.

Great idea!

Amazing isn't it

That's like designing a more piercing car horn so those pesky pedistrians get out of the way.. As a cyclist, it is your responsibility to be careful around "weaker" people on the road, just like it is your responsibility in a car to not hit cyclists, nor pedestrians. Who are all these cyclists running into pedestrians all the time?!
