Folks, What would you prefer to ask candidates on a job application form? a) Basic details: Name, Email, Phone and Resume (Remaining can be on call) b) All the information that is required for the role: Current location, Willingness to relocate, Current CTC, Expected CTC, Notice period, and many more specific to your company and job. Would candidates prefer to fill out the application if it is simple? Please share your thoughts.

@Vijay - According to my opinion it should be the first one ideally but in cases where its a high volume application role such say customer support / basic operations, we can add and filter according to a few more criteria eg. willingness to relocate/ notice period because this will help in freeing up some of the recruiters’ bandwidth esp if it is a very small team

I totally agree with you, @Ishita Why can't this be put into the next step in an automated way to prevent application drop-off in the first place? A follow-up email to the application submission that acknowledges and collects additional information. I agree that there would be a high chance that candidates would miss the mail or submit the additional info. In that case, recruiters would have to hop on call which will be more time consuming. Would placing bot on SMS or WhatsApp to collect the info solve the problem, provided the bot will take care reminding the candidates at interval to submit?

While that’s a brilliant outlook on the above problem, this arose just two thoughts in my head : 1. The people who want to be filling / letting us know this info might be comfortable foing this in the first stage as well since an email might not provide them the human factor / bond they might be looking for in the recruiter call. 2. The bot will be a good idea but that might have a downside of some people thinking the organisation is spamming them? Apart from these two thoughts, this feels like a right approach to this problem statement.
