Hey folks! Question: have you found a tool for reverse engineering existing resources into Terraform? In the past I used Terraformer: github.com/GoogleCloudPlatform/terraformer but see that it is no longer maintained:

I’ll look around to see if any other tools might have taken its place but wondered if you might be using a different tool for reverse engineering.

Doing that a lot these days with AWS

Ahh yeah I guess that makes sense. Let the bots do it. 😅

The best part about it is that it will be code you're more likely to want to maintain

I just did this last night. We had an old account with unmanaged Route 53 domains. In a totally separate organization that we really don't use anymore. I used #C031919U8A0 with Atmos Auth to log in to all accounts as necessary. Connected the AWS MCP, which now supports OAuth. And had it both execute the transfers between the old account in the old organization and the new account in the new organization, build out the stack configurations, and validate that they worked
doing this with

was just magical

I know BSL Terraform (in the 1.15.x release?) added support for writing HCL-based queries to retrieve unmanaged resources so that you can import them in bulk. I haven't played around with it yet, but here are some docs: developer.hashicorp.com/terraform/language/import/bulk

use claude • create sub-agent for rev-eng-tf ( use sonnet 5, you don't need much effort ) • add terraform skills and terraform mcp • use aws cli ( better than aws MCP ) • dump your quest knowledge into AGENTS.md • let it loop for a full night , only terraform state import, mv, and plan I did this a while back, and it was acceptable for me. saved me lot of hours
