Hey guys I have a question about atmos toolchain I know we have the .tool-versions file but do we need to set the version again when declaring them as a dependencies? for example on the org/_default I have this:
dependencies:
  tools:
    atmos: 1.214.0
    terraform: 1.14.2
    tflint: 0.61.0
but I will prefer to manage version in 1 place and just declare the tool that is need it that way I don't have to remember and update this too hahaha
e
At this time, the
.tool-versions
file only is processed when you run
atmos toolchain install
but
dependencies.tools
is automatically processed any time one of those components is needed
they are 2 separate systems, one could say
m
I see but it dose get install in other sub cmds right? for example I'm playing around with
atmos mcp
but this cmd did install what I had in
.tool-versions
e
but this cmd did install
which command
m
I run
atmos mcp test all
e
@Andriy Knysh (Cloud Posse) would no more on the
mcp
subcommand
Are you using the new native MCP feature to manage start the MCP services?
m
YeahI try it on version 1.214 but it had an issue with the Atmos profile ENV but I saw that @Andriy Knysh (Cloud Posse) push a fix for this on 1.215 so I wanted to try it hahaha
a
atmos mcp test - is your custom command, right?
m
a
yea, sorry... I meant you tested a custom command before. what is the issue with
atmos mcp test
you are currently seeing? did you update Atmos to 1.215.0?
m
Ah yeah before I did, I have update to 1.215.0, here we were discussing that when you run
atmos mcp test all
it will try to install all the tools in
.tool-versions
file idk if this is an issue though
I was mostly asking about the dependency.tools but @Erik Osterman (Cloud Posse) explained that so this are 2 separate process, although I will argue that it will be cool to just declare what to install and keep versions in
.tool-versions
although overwriting it can be useful but I like to set a default hahaha
But @Andriy Knysh (Cloud Posse) I did found and issues on the new version with
atmos mcp
hehe I will create a new post or continue our old one on this hahaha
a
please do, and thank you
