Hey guys, a question about using atmos with geodesic containers. We currently are using Leapp, and want to replace it. Am I right that having atmos installed in the host system is a requirement? What if we want to have fully isolated geodesic containers, and to only have atmos inside of them? So containers know nothing about the authentication setup of other containers? I think we tried this, but terraform was failing to get credentials, if atmos auth is configured only inside the geodesic container?

In the it is just authenticating with cloud endpoints, but usually logins web flow which is inconvenient inside a container
That's why we recommend mounting a host filesystem into the containers and authenticating on the host
Native OS keychains don't work between docker VM and host machine

It's just a complaint I've heard. That it makes projects less portable.
e
But atmos does support a keychain file

So, if it's not working from within the container, we are doing something wrong?

“Not working” can mean a lot of things :)
If you can share the error can help diagnose

Terraform couldn't get state from the state buckets. Ok, so it's definitely not a design choice in Atmos? I'll come back with more details, then, thanks!

There's no technical limitations
If it’s not working there's probably something that needs to be tweaked

It would be helpful to know how you are trying to authentication… SSO, SAML, IAM users, etc
… OIDC
One of the reasons is to facilitate logins since logins can happen on the host machine and credentials accessed in the container
