Currently,
Lightdash is not natively listed as a supported BI integration in the official StarRocks documentation, and StarRocks is not yet a built-in warehouse option in Lightdash.
However, because Lightdash is "dbt-native" and StarRocks has an official
dbt-starrocks adapter, there are two ways you can explore using them together:
1. Connection via Trino (Recommended Workaround)
Lightdash officially supports
Trino as a warehouse. Since StarRocks can be integrated with Trino (via the StarRocks connector for Trino), you can use Trino as a gateway:
*
Lightdash →
Trino →
StarRocks
* This allows you to leverage Lightdash’s semantic layer while using StarRocks as the underlying high-performance engine.
2. Self-Hosted Community Adapters
Lightdash is open-source, and some community members have explored adding custom adapters. If you are self-hosting Lightdash, you can technically implement or use community-contributed adapters, though these are not officially supported by either StarRocks or Lightdash.
Future Support
While there is no public timeline for a native StarRocks connector in Lightdash, both communities are active. You can track or request this feature in the following places:
*
Lightdash GitHub Issues
*
StarRocks Community Slack
For now, the
Trino gateway is the most stable path if you need to use Lightdash with StarRocks today.
