Generator Rental - lol 20kw, compared to our 7kw from last year. Would be quiet and easy to maintain - just needs to be towed. $675/week

I was responsible for a genny like this at a couple of burns. I don’t want to do it again.
and we’d need two 😞
And you can also BUY a shitty open-frame 7kw generator for less than $1k and build a box to make it quieter and put it further away from the stage and it’ll be fine
d
Just brainstorming options, based on responses from other event producers (this was suggested by Mischa and Marvin Lew). Wheee would we store these large open frame Benny's after purchase? Could we give to Mendo Magic?
s
one problem at a time
can we get away with one 7k and one 3k?
the 3ks are easier to find (and much cheaper)
I'm calling a bunch of places. i started a tracking sheet here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1w9_mhsDxWjq3mtrrJJYXAp3WrZq71sH_lLsRzj_d1Zw/edit#gid=0
ok, looks like Action Rentals in SF has 7ks for $395/wk, and they have two of them for that week. Seems like we should reserve those?

s
i'll call them too
yeah sunbelt seems the cheapest. guy on the phone sounded certain they'd have 2x6500w inverters in San Leandro
@dry-vase-19852 confirm that 6500 is sufficient
d
@square-country-13088 Yes those are identical to the Airpusher generator we used last year
The lake stage won't need lights but will have a bigger sound system The loggers stage will have a smaller system but also lots of lights
s
K, I’ll reserve two 7ks from sunbelt.
rubik 2
d
Perfect
s
reserved two 6500s. Total is gonna be like $670 for both.
d
Awesome. My only concern is we go to pickup and they didn't save them. Did you put down the money up front?
s
Yes (well, not yet, but they’ll call a couple of weeks before and confirm the rental and get my CC)

@square-country-13088 - I remember the eu7000 honda generator we used last year had a weird three pin fairly unique connector out and essentially we were not able to get all the power out of it. Luckily we didn't draw enough to overload the single channel
