Buffered

Protected

I don’t get it. Neither of these is “pulling out the bike lanes” - this seems like a proposal to redo the street again in order to protect the bike lane further? In the hi-res image you can see this is just south of KP market so 23rd-24th of Telegraph (looking North)
Gosh the protected one also got a fancy bus stop and plants

The first one lets cars double park in the bike lane. The second physically prevents this.
They want to pull out the protected bike lanes
Something about how the safety of people on bikes is less important than the convenience of storing your car

removing the bike lanes makes space for like 3 more cars per block?
i don’t really get why the city would go for undoing something they just built. They generally fix a road like never, so why fix it twice?

because merchants, and a ton of residents, are obsessed with parking as the absolute golden standard of quality of life

As someone who pays attention to how this goes in most places - it’s usually a small number of vocal boomers that couldn’t find a parking spot that one time and then saw a person on a bike roll a stop sign and now they’re taking it to city hall

the way you get nice bike lanes, and get to keep them, is by being as loud as them, which is why i suggest filling out the form voting emailing your city counselor etc.

Even though study after study shows that more friendly bike and ped = more business
I do have one complaint about this bike lane though and I wish they’d fix this - I very much appreciate the restaurant parklets…but they need to be on the sidewalk side of the bike lane, not have people constantly shuffling across the bike lane without looking

I HATE the choices they made on Telegraph. IMO The bike lane should be on a raised extension on the same level as the sidewalk.

@able-vr-31152 agreed, but now we get to pick between a shitty status quo and an even shittier one!
