I saw this yesterday also and it made me sad inside 😂
t
This is insane
It's weird he's saying negative stuff about dynamo
j
Huh his replies are interesting. He sounds really frustrated.
k
Yeah it does not look like a separation in good terms 😅

He sounds bitter.
".. the fact is it is losing ground fast..." this is an interesting "fact". I was under the impression the opposite was true.

It's interesting, I think there's some bitterness here as well as some marketing for his new employer. In practice he built and inspired others to build huge and complex systems on DynamoDB. Alex Debrie chimed in to basically say that while some of those things would be nice (particularly range style queries on PKs) that they also mean it's easier to create scalability problems and what he called 'footgun moments', so there are tradeoffs
m
For sure. Someone in the comments said "sounds like mysql". Many tools to choose from and they all have tradeoffs. I actually heard about Rick through Alex Debrie. I learned a lot from his talk but for me personally Alex was more helpful with his style of teaching.
r
Yeah, agree. Rick was always a little bit machine gun in his delivery!
