Hey all, I am facing an odd error when navigating to the Glossary root. I cannot see the list of terms... anyone having same issue? on top, i have a business term that is linked to a metric, but the metric is not listed anywhere despite it exists under the metrics folder (not visible in the left menu, anyone can help?)
a
Hey @quick-house-6813 thanks for flagging this. Would you mind trying the following: • Do a hard refresh (cmd+shift+R for Mac or Ctrl + Shift + R for Windows) • Clear browser cache • Log out and log back in Let us know if the issue persists!
q
On my way
Glossary root topic solved āœ…

now, I see metrcs under a collection if I force the metric to belong to a collection
a
Hey @quick-house-6813 would you mind sharing an example of what you are seeing and details on what you are expecting to see?
q
preparing it right now šŸ™‚
thankyou 1
This is what I see from a collection perspective: a business term under glossary and a metric under metrics
image.png
Both are related using the 'Related' feature
now, if i look for a first level 'Metrics' menu in the left hand-side menu, it does not appear...
I would either expect a Metrics item in the menu or in the worst of the cases, metrics hanging from related business terms
Now I can create a hierarchy of Business Terms in the Glossary but not the associated Metrics. They are somehow hidden and only visible if added to a Collection...
a
I see - so if I'm understanding this correctly -
metrics
are not showing up under Glossary on the left menu, unless added to the Collection (even though it is a metric of the
Airhelp Corporate
team). Does that sound right? Let me know if I'm missing something!

completely right. It is seen as part of Collection if forced but not as part of Glossary as per 'related' feature
not even as its own menu item under Glossary, e.g
In the DMBoK framework, a business term and a metric are fundamentally related but distinct concepts, operating at different levels of abstraction and serving different purposes within an organization's data landscape. A business term represents a core concept or vocabulary element within the organization's business domain. It provides a precise, business-friendly definition of "what" something is. It is the foundational, qualitative understanding of a concept, ensuring a common language across all stakeholders. For example, "Customer," "Product," "Order," or in your case, "App Installations." A business term defines the essence of the thing being discussed. A metric, on the other hand, is a quantifiable measurement tied to a specific business term or process. It answers "how much" or "how well" of that business term is being observed or performed. Metrics measure aspects of business terms. For instance, while "App Installations" is the business term defining the concept, "Number of App Installations" is the metric that quantifies how many such events have occurred
Glossary is about business terms, Metrics, on the other hand, is about how the business term performs
For me it would be fine to have Glossary and, down each Term, its related metrics
a
I see - thanks for the details, Daniel! We're looking into this. Would you mind indicating how you are currently creating the metrics?
q
This is a good question: I cannot remember the exact steps I followed
Let me retry
šŸ‘€ 1
well, it seem I reused a legacy metric when created as metric,
Just created a property named glossary type and we are good
a
Oh I see - thanks for confirming @quick-house-6813! Glad it's working well. :D As for the legacy metrics - are there more that you're noticing running into the same issue?
q
nop, as I clean them all

I have couple more questions about metrics, but I will manage directly with the Account Manager
a
Great - thanks for the update @quick-house-6813! Feel free to let us know if something comes up or if there's anything we can help with. šŸ™‚
Hey @quick-house-6813 Also wanted to flag that Metrics have been merged with the Glossary. All Metrics have been migrated to the Glossary as of November 20, 2024. Please see Glossary and Glossary best practices for more details. Do let us know if there are any specific questions about Metrics that we can address!
