stripe makes ~1% of transaction value= transactions goes does - its revenue goes down - hiring etc are done basis projected revenue and thats expected to take a deep hit in 2023.

my take is no different from the floating narrative. it is the overall macroeconomic environment brought on by reduced consumer spending, inflation due to energy crisis (russo-ukranian war?) and reduced funding. stripe makes more money when: • people spend more with stripe's existing customers (consumers spending less, means anyone depending on payment business model is also making less money) • stripe signs up new customers (less funding means less new companies getting funding and thus fewer new customers) both are seeing a massive downtrend.
