Apart from what @Shaf said(+1 btw), I realise that ss like these encourage startups to underpay talent, even when they are not giving them as much equity as @Sid showed. I think for B2B strictly, we should stick to reliable pays while also finding ways to deliver equity for valid market valuations in the future. Not every business has the scale of what Swiggy is at today, and not every business has such low profitability as Swiggy too, making other employee benefits available 😁

Work ex before you join a company that goes IPO has little to do with earnings at IPO

Something about this math isn’t adding up. So this Head of New Business had 2% at IPO? (195/9375)? Wasn’t the IPO around 10Kcr (9375 is what Google says)? Seems tough for someone with 4.3 years in the company to have 2% no, given dilution and all? Even at double the value, 1% also seems a bit high considering how much dilution Zomato must have gone through. What am I missing?

One can become a General Manager and HR head with 2 years of work ex 🙂 And 11.8 years later, one of them is a VP 😄

Annie Duke quote perfectly fits here:
Our brains evolved to create certainty and order. We are uncomfortable with the idea that luck plays a significant role in our lives. We recognize the existence of luck, but we resist the idea of it.
